I am not sure if this can be done or not but I am looking for a way to replay the final cut scene in the A10 Pillar of Autumn campaign without going through the whole level. Essentially what I would like to do is play it over and over so that I can position the camera at different angles to take screenshots of various parts of the cut scene. Unfortunately once you play the cut scene the last checkpoint is lost and you can't get to the part where you enter the life-pod and start the cut scene. Does anyone know if this can be done. Any help is always appreciated.

You would have to reuse the scripts/animations extracted from the last cutscene. My best guess is that the final cutscene is triggered by the player moving into the trigger volume at the end of the level (again, just a guess, I've never modded a10), and then the script creates the objects (vehicles, player) before executing the camera movement, animation, dialog, and choreographed effects.
I would have to see the script for the level a10 to be sure (if anyone could post it that would be nice).

Er, that's 5839 lines of commands. You can download the scripts from Zteams release.

I'm not quite sure how you would do this though. The way bungie did the cut scenes you can't access the pause menu without starting the next level.

If you just want to take pictures couldn't you just play through the level? You can put devmode on and use "game_speed 0" to pause the game, and then use the debug_camera_load/save to fly around at different angles. You can even use game_speed 0.2 or 0.5 to slow things down so that you don't miss anything. Also, what I do when I playtest the end parts of levels, I just put on deathless player and set the game speed to like 5 or something and just run through the level. a10 isnt too long so I think that should be reasonable.

You can also manually use "game_save_totally_unsafe" to set your own checkpoints. It would depend on how the script is set up but I think that should work.

He wants to take different angles of the same cuscene. If the MC were assasinating a grunt, he'd want a front, side and rear view of the same action, not the BSP.

I have been playing through with just about all cheats especially Medusa to get through the level but I have to run through, then set the camera (debug_camera_save) then run through again move load and move camera get maybe one screenshot - if I am lucky then play again....etc it is quite tedious. If I have to then that is the way I will do it but I was hoping one of you Halo CE genius' had a better way. I will try the "game_save_totally_unsafe" to set the checkpoint where I want it and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip.

The instant the cut scene starts it creates a new checkpoint. Erasing the one you just created. Unless you save the checkpoint you created and access it in the UI.

I found a solution. I remembered that the CMT A10 had a glitch in that if you hit [ESC] during the ending cut scene it replayed the cut scene from the beginning. It was EXACTLY what I needed and I managed to get what I was looking for. Thanks for everyone that replied the discussion was helpful in that it jogged my memory.

core_save at the point where you want to revert back to later

core_load when you want to revert back to that point

alternatively, say you want to have multiple spots in the cutscene where you want to revert back to. For example, when the Chief pats the marine's shoulder

core_save_name "pat_marine_shoulder"
core_load_name "pat_marine_shoulder"
