Msg. 1 of 8
I have installed the "Extinction" map on the desktop in a folder I created just for maps. I go to open the map from the folder, and I get an error message saying it does not know which program to use to open it. When I did a search for a program that would open it, I came to Openoffice. I installed it, and tried to open the file again from the folder. Did not work. I also drug the map file into my Halo C.E. desktop icon, thinking I would now have a copy of the map in the program. I went into Halo C.E., and tried to find the map. No map. I know I'm doing something wrong, as I've never tried to download or play maps before. Would someone help me?

OpenOffice for map files what the...
You need to put the .map file(s) in the "Maps" folder in your Halo CE directory. This is usually found in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition. They will then appear available in the multiplayer maps list when you load the CE game. Edited by teh lag on Aug 12, 2011 at 05:27 PM

I tried saving the maps under the following directory, which is what the program automatically defaults to: Users\Tom\Desktop\Halo CE. I can save it, then when I go to play the game via the desktop, the maps are not there. I'm not that computer savy when it comes to this, so any hand holding is appreciated. Thanks!

quote: Users\Tom\Desktop\Halo CE
if you right click your haloce icon on your desktop and click on properties, that will give the path of the microsoft halo custom edition folder location.
when you find this location the maps you add should be put in the maps folder.
so if it was Tom\program files\microsoft games\halo custom edition\maps
then that is where your maps would go. Edited by ally on Aug 12, 2011 at 09:19 PM

When you download the map, it is compressed in a .zip or .rar. You need to "extract" the .map within. Put the .map in the maps folder in haloce root directory.
