What's the difference between Recorded and Custom animations again? Why not just use custom animations?

Custom animations are literal animations; they consist only of node transformations.

Recorded animations are actually a bit of a misnomer: they're more like recorded input that can be played back on any given unit. They come with the advantage (in certain situations) that since they're input and not raw animation info they can be used to automatically trigger features built into the units they are played on - such as the Pelican's banking animations and engine sounds or the footstep sounds on a biped. These things can be very difficult, tedious or outright impossible to get working correctly when dealing with raw animation data. For example, it would be an absolute pain to correctly apply pitch and volume scaling to a pre-defined foley sound for a Pelican's engine - and nearly impossible to correctly set the appropriate fade values for its hover/jet thruster attachments; you could just play back input and have the game take care of it automatically.

hey so i wasnt a member at the time but i read the forums in the old spv2 discussion when you were talkin about whether to use iron sights or the scope or reflex sights for the smg (ah nostalgia) and the topic of zoom came up... it was voted down much to my dismay but that was pre ODST and it actually worked really well in odst with the suppressor on so my question is will your new scoped smg feature... a scope feature?

Well...

Roviet, I don't think CMT would add a scope onto something like that, then ahve nos cope feature. Its probably implemented already, and it just wasn't used in the hunter encounter.

It'd fit right in with a dark grim game such as gears of war, not for halo though.

Hurp. Please leave. It's obvious your covered in bias gunk.

Maybe I should save all the textures down to 512 so it looks "halo" to you.

Why would I put a beak on the jackal.

"If It was me making it"

Please, proceed.

Oh I'm sorry, all my reference pictures of the Jackal from bungie must be wrong then.

Also, the model isn't impressive. The model is actually quite bad and I had alot of annoyance working with it.

The model isn't what I did. The paint/hi poly model are.

Could you video record yourself when making this kind of things ? It can be really helpful for wannabe texturers

If you look closely, you can still notice that small slit running vertically through the eyeball. In yours I do not really see that, just a big ball with some minor detail in it.

I was in fact talking about your art STYLE, "dark and grim" has NOTHING to do with "hi resolution" or whatever.

> Dano cannot read
> Or
> Dano cannot handle any form of crit
> Your art looks dark and grim, I did not say it looked bad, but halo is more known for a more colorful flair rather than dark and grim gears of war style art.
> Dano is easily offended
> Why am I using ">"
> In belgium we have a yoghurt known as Danone, it is light and tasty, unlike your art, which is dark and grim.
> Apologies for giving feedback to a dick who cannot handle crit

I was in fact talking about your art STYLE, "dark and grim" has NOTHING to do with "hi resolution" or whatever.

> Dano cannot read
< Can
> Or
< Nope
> Dano cannot handle any form of crit
< Crit wasn't given
> Your art looks dark and grim, I did not say it looked bad, but halo is more known for a more colorful flair rather than dark and grim gears of war style art.
< Wrong. Just plain flat out wrong. Your confusing texture detail yet again, with style. if I saturated anything anymore with colour, It'd would look wrong and gross. Your also comparing in game shots with bloom and proper materials to max viewport's and a basic render with DARK LIGHTING
> Dano is easily offended
< The offense, was your continued ineptitude and denying it has anything to do with bias, as you did this exact same thing last time over a yellow stripe that, btw didn't gel with halo's "style" but you actually were derp enough to want it. Bad taste. Opinion void.
> Why am I using ">"
< Because your attempting to mock my post by copying what I did, to create a "white rabbit" approach of arguing. I am now continuing this with yours.
> In belgium we have a yoghurt known as Danone, it is light and tasty, unlike your art, which is dark and grim.
Using some unrelated personal thing to promote a wrong statement.
> Apologies for giving feedback to a dick who cannot handle crit

Feedback, not Feedbag. Put down the doritos and actually know what your talking about.

Let's re iterate:

*Post's viewports with no lighting what so ever, and a render with dark moody lighting to show off detail and be less ambient*

DIS NOT BLOOM AND LOW RES PURPLE SLICK, DIS NOT HALOL.

Please.

You judge what you see, disregarding any context or thought what so ever. What a lovely way of thinking. Do you attend Clan rallies by any chance?

Please don't copulate and create more people who think like you.

I could post any number of shots of the jackal from various artsy renders and poses that look even more "edgy" then my posted shots in certain lighting situations.

Playing game > seeing in action

vs

Obvious viewport and obvious dark single lighting render.

I'd love to prove you wrong and make a lovely big lit up colourful render for you, but I don't give that much of an F.

Holy cow dude you have serious personality issues. Why do you even bother posting work if you cannot handle ANY form of crit AT ALL. Even with bourrin's beak suggestion you went BERSERK.

Hell you would go berserk if somebody said your texture had a scratch too many, and immediately jump to the conclusion that person would not know what they are talking about.

Lmao I'm done with you :L
But I'll still give my opinion on your work in the future

Texture is awesome and model is inaccurate, but still a good model. For the jackal, it does need to have beaklike snout. It's just one of the distinct features of the character.
