If you look closely, you can still notice that small slit running vertically through the eyeball. In yours I do not really see that, just a big ball with some minor detail in it.

you're both wrong. style's changed from game to game, there's no "right way" to do the eyes. 2 and reach had slits, 1 and 3 did not

debating what's artistically accurate in a series that's been constantly inconsistent makes people a bunch of silly faces

just played reach to check, it's actually more like a human eye pupil wise because it's more of a ball not a slit

Doesn't matter, it's a different strain of jackal just like the skirmishers, slightly more devolved.
Think Dinosaurs then Birds. In this case, the Jackal is the bird while this one is the Dinosaur.
I think this makes sense.
I like it.
I think everyone needs to calm their tits. Yes it looks grungy, yes it's not your average beak-bearing jackal, but it looks good! the eye gives them a more sinister look, besides the eyes have covers over them and it just so happens that these ones are more opaque than the original.

Dark and grimy = Realistic, used and damaged - so again, realistic.

Nuff said. It looks fine, nice work.

Also, why are people commenting on the model when there is no wireframe so you can't tell if it is good at all tbqh apart from the defined shapes and edges...

Then explain the inconsistencies in sangheili and unngoy design as well. You going to say halfjaw from halo 3 was a different strain of elite than in halo 2 who had different body porportios and toe structure?

No. Its just redesign. Nothing more. There is no canonical logic behind it.

this reminds me, are you going to do different perms for these jackals that appear randomly like you did with the brutes? (brutes had different colors of fur and different armor perms)

or is each jackal gonna be identical?

Jackals will have color-permutations for their armor and a few helmet/head permutations based on their rank/role.

This is certainly not a "rip" - from any later Halo game or even H1 (with the exception of maybe the shield gauntlet which would have been silly to redo). The model was made a few years back by Nugget.

The logic behind it is the same as the Skirmishers in Reach. Except a million times more unlikely.
I know it is just a re-design, but it was fun to write at least. I like the idea of dinosaurs in halo.

the necks on jackals are quite long, your jackal's neck is too short.


also could you make their mohawks a bit taller? just a suggestion

We'll see what we can do. We try to keep things proportional with the H1 models, so we don't get any collision or animation errors like you see in HA10. The jackal is the enemy that changed the most from H1->H2 art wise, as the H1 Jackal was never very good looking to begin with.

extending the neck that would cause all sorts of wierd bull with the hitbox

it'd look better with the neck extended though I have to agree

I gotta say though, the comb of the jackal on your one looks more like a regressive hairline rather than a comb. And the eye looks too much like a diamond. Yes I like to complain.

Not really fueling an argument. He is giving valid critiscm, and yes I like to support TM. The eyes do look liek diamonds...or topaz, or whatever orangey gem you want ti to be. Howver, beggers can't be choosers. You want to delay progress on what may be the greatest campaign MOD of all time?

This deserves punishment. Chop him into small bits as a tuxedoed walrus laughs on, and then feed those bits to the tuxedoed walrus.
