This goes deeper than any of us could imagine – that I could imagine. I must now direct your attention to something disturbing. I suggest the weaker among you to avert your eyes, for this is not for the faint of heart.

Just now, at 10:35 PM, U.S. Eastern Time, a certain thread was posted. This thread was regarding the leak of Lumoria Episode two. Once again I downed a Red Bull and stared into the abyss. I of course disregarded the contents of thead and went straight to looking for our old friend – or should I say enemy – the number six.

My curiosity did not go unrewarded.



This appears to be nothing more than an average concerned mapper doing his civic duty, repeating the lines of reasoning we have all internalized unquestioningly.

But look closer.



Yes – there it is. There is the abyss, staring back at us. Even if we think we are free we are all just pawns in their game. To those who doubt this – do not feel guilty. I know how hard it can be to accept this horiffic truth, yet you must if we are to prevent further catastrophe. I, too, found myself doubting it all – how could they have infiltrated this far? One day ago, as I was trying to unveil the mystery of what horrible disaster the puppetmaster would unleash on the 26th of July, I delved back into my original posting looking for inspiration... and discovered this.



There it was again – the abyss. The terrible reality we must struggle against with all the rage in our feeble modder's bodies. Overcome with horror at the realization that I, too, might be nothing but another part of the plan, I fainted. I came to hours later and knew that there was no time to waste. My shift over, I immediately called a taxi and headed to the Modacity archives once again.

There, in a heavily stained filing cabinet labeled “drama 2007”, I discovered the following. (I of course need not remind you all that 7 is in fact the number after 6!) Battered and reeking of stale alcohol and tags was this transcript... an artifact of ages past.




Yes... this took me back. For you see, my fellow mappers and modders, there is something I have been keeping from you. I was a part of that war. I fought hard against the noob invaders who so callously fought for a system in which all tags were stolen from those who had worked hard for them... all going to feed the insatiable hunger of the filthy proletariat. The Reds have tried before to overthrow us and we beat them back... and now here I am, a night watchman at the borders of the Custom Edition sea, watching ever-vigilantly for the day they return. I hope you now understand why this battle is particularly... personal for me.

After this nostalgic yet heart-wrenching discovery I decided to dig deeper. I looked around the Modacity archives once more – my... my unit's old stomping ground. Here we made our stand and drove back the Red army. I perused the news bulletins, lost in ecstasy-inducing fantasies of the past. And then I noticed something.

As you all know the state of the Archives has diminished considerably. Once a promising young library, with information ripe and gathered at its teats for the young and eager to suckle on, it is now but a dry, flaccid husk of what it once was. Yet even until recently these was a semblance of life on the front page. I glanced back a few articles... and I stopped at the last information roundup.



Look at the date it was posted. 1/25/11. Do you know what 25 + 11 is? I hope so.

It's 36. The square of 6.

My instinct was tingling – I must have hit something. One final roundup was posted on that fateful day... and then for months, everything went silent. What happened to this poor website?

I found my answer in the next posting.



TheGhost, the long in-absentia owner of Modacity, announced that he was going to keep the site running. That he was in command. That he was there. “Isn't that odd”, I thought to myself, “that he would suddenly return and be acting as if nothing had happened?” Yes... it was as if someone had realized that the site going quiet was suspicious... and they needed to squelch that suspicion before everyone discovered what was really happening.

I called another taxi and went home. I assembled all the clues in my head. By the time I got home, I knew it.

Modacity was founded in 2006.

There are 6 members who are registered as developers of Halo 2 Vista – and remember that Modacity was originally H2Vista.net.

The date of the last roundup conveniently contained the number 36 cleverly hidden in its post date.

I hope you all understand what happened. Some time before the last roundup, the Reds infiltrated Modacity. Maybe it was weeks before, maybe months – who knows how long their sleeper cells were there? The poor modders and mappers never saw it coming. Holding the entire archive hostage – its members less of a match for them than the noobs in the times of ere – the communist insurgents covertly gutted and replaced the site's administration. The last roundup was posted to encode the information of their success. Then, the site went quiet... the Reds had infrastructure to build, tags to redistribute, and maps to rape and plunder. Breaking into the last of the site's reserve of tags from the Golden Age of H2V, they set up the site as their new base of operations.

After a while the remaining few denizens became suspicious. Where were the postings? Where were the tags? To counter the growing public animosity, the puppetmaster had TheGhost paraded around the site, assuring everyone that everything was okay – no, there was nothing suspicious here at all. Whether it was actually TheGhost or merely an imposter, we may never know.

However, to those skeptical of what I have related to you, consider the following:

Add the two-digit pairs of the year of TheGhost's post date together. 20 + 11. That makes 31. Now add 5 for the month of April.

...36. They didn't even bother to change their signal.

If that wasn't enough, look closely at TheGhost's name. Look at its color.

It's red.

I hope you all now understand the gravity of the threat we're facing.

Now, some of you may say, “but Gurdy, you fool – you said that something was going to happen on the 25th – but you haven't gotten any closer to it!”

Look again to the thread I mentioned at the beginning of this posting. Look at the date it was posted. 10:35 PM, U.S. Eastern Time, right?

...Except in Mother Russia, it wasn't 10:35 PM at all. Indeed, at that time in the city of Moscow it would be been a nice and comfortable 6:35 AM in the morning, on the cheery day of July 25.

I know this is a lot to digest. It has been for me, too. I've barely slept at all save for when I passed out. There is but one last thing I need to draw to your attention though – something perhaps more grave than anything I have yet discussed. Let us journey back to the user ASP GRUNTS – that puppet of the puppetmaster.

Those transcripts, the dismantling of the community, are all leading up to one thing: the release of SPV3. Within these maps, these tags, there is something of great power. Masterz wouldn't come back without an ace up his sleeve, so you can bet there is something hidden, something that can turn the tide of this war in his favor.

I'm not going to sit around while Masterz grapples his way back to the top to oppress the people through CMT (Custom Map Team, not Community Map Team, this is very important.) It's our time to strike, to take this juggernaut down...
