I recently have tried to add my first custom map to my Halo Custom Edition map file and I failed, and even though the file is not in the mao file when I try to launch the game it keeps saying a file is missing or corrupt. I just do not understand at all, especially when all the map files were just as they had been before. But it gets worse, I assumed that there had to be something wrong with the map files, so I replaced all of them with some other batch of map files, and i'm not sure if the new map files are the true files, and even with me doing that it still doesn't work!

If it's telling you a map file is missing or corrupt, you probably accidentally removed one of the default maps. The default maps you should have when you run Custom Edition are: beavercreek bitmaps bloodgulch boardingaction carousel chillout damnation dangercanyon deathisland gephyrophobia hangemhigh icefields longest prisoner putput ratrace sidewinder sounds timberland ui wizard

EVERYTHING in your maps folder HAS to be a map file. Otherwise, it won't run your map correctly.

Make sure you have bitmaps.map, sound.map, and ui.map. kbye.

if you have created a map then when it was in the maps directory changed it so for example o make a map called "map" and it works then i rename it "map1" the game will say map is missing or corrupt you cannot change the name of any map custom or other wise once it is written to the map directory im pretty sure this is the problem if not take out any custom maps and try if it its that then you need to find out which one is causing the problem. add me on xfire "waitingforjade" or pm me
let me now if this helps thanks

Edited by ally on Jun 18, 2011 at 08:26 AM You can't just copy them from Halo PC. For whatever reason Halo PC =/= Halo CE

One thing being that the bitmaps.map file is different. I can't remember the specifics for halo PC but if I recall correctly in halo CE the map file has an index to the resource to be loaded from the bitmaps.map file. I think in halo PC it just stores the pixel data and in the map file there's a pointer to it in the bitmaps.map file. I guess for PC it was more of a dump file where as for CE it had some sort of structure to it. Edited by Sprinkle on Jun 19, 2011 at 01:45 AM
