I bought 3ds max today and want to create a model for Halo. Only problem is I'm not sure what I should model. Got any ideas?

He never said that he did not know how to use 3ds max, he asked what he should model.

I dunno, maybe some differently-shaped covenant storage containers. The 3 that exist now are boring.

Yeah, that's great. A field-Ops marine with a radio set.

i wouldn't call it "blowing a grand" when my goal is to get a job as a professional 3d modeler. also they give out free copy's for students.

he's obviously not a student if he "bought" it as he said

if you spend a thousand dollars on something without first learning the basics of 3D modeling in other free programs and not going to school to learn how to use said program and doing this as a hobby (which would more than likely be the case here) and only modding halo when there are other free alternatives for halo modding, then yeah, you're blowing a grand

Remind me where he said he didn't know how to model.

It does not say that anywhere.

yes i do. infact im still modeling the office chair that spiral wanted right now.

so far i have 1 wheel with the leg attached, and the hydrolic leg that holds up the chair that allows you to move it up and down. next i plan to duplicate the leg and wheel 4 times and place it around the leg

like this chair

pic of the model

yes i know its pretty crappy right now but im not even half-way done with it.
