Does anyone think they could make a map like this? I don't know if it would be possible, but I don't see why not:
A tower defense map. There would be creeps steadily getting stronger as the levels progressed (Covenent and flood, maybe some "homemade" creatures. You could put spartans and marines as well for more variety, but I think it would be better to keep them all normal enemies) The players would be set on towers with like a sniper or something (Maybe make the weapon's strength get better with each new level), and all the creeps would have to follow a path. The player's towers would be spread out along the path. The object of the game is to kill everything before it reaches the end of the path.

New idea, what about you get some money for each kill, and you can buy better guns with the money you make like in Firefight Portent.

I think its sounds a bit genocidal. I've played tower defense flash games similar to this. With firefight, you're at least actually fighting an encounter, and you're actually susceptible to losing through being shot to death. With tower defense, you'll only lose by running out of ammo or when an overwhelming force inevitably reaches the end. Doesn't sound to exciting...

Actually, a first person builder-TD would be intersting...there could be switches somewhere that spawns a pickup thingy which spawns the desired tower. You start with an empty sniper rifle to spot targets and have super jump and jetpack at the same time. Maybe that could work.

It's basically a firefight except that you have to defend an objective. For players to enjoy such a game, we could give them a reason to defend the objective by giving it special properties that will aid the player in battle.

Hmm yeah... Maybe it could be part of a bigger map, like a level in a campaign or something. :)

I'll agree with that. I have seen a few firefights like that, but it would be nice if you could spawn sniper towers (covenant?), sandbags, bases, longsword bombing strikes and arial reinforcement drops for the player to use with money instead of just weapons, barricades and small amounts of allied AI. Also, be sure not to just start off with grunts, it's boring.

Yeah, like the money system in Firefight Portent maybe. I have to disagree with the grunt thing, grunts are insanely fun to kill, but yeah, not to long.

I'm all for killing aliens as long as it's engaging. Kind of like why I only like sniping missions in games if AI are sniping back. Also why I don't like turret defense, which is similar to tower defense.

Anyway, sounds like a great idea, and I hope it's made. :)
