343 Industries is considering working on upgraded version of Halo PC as well as Halo 1 for 360.
If there is a Halo Custom Edition counterpart created for the update Halo version, what are
some of your hopes and expectations?

Mine are:
1) backwards capability with current Halo CE tags, maps and resources.
2) Extra character inclusions aside from Halo 1 (since we know more exist and they're old now)
3) Refined tools and asset creation (we've all had major/minor errors plus "!Exceptions!" of our own
4) More official Game Types. (Maybe even something along the lines of Enery Sword Tag...:D aaah elementary school game, memories)
5) MAAYBE win/loss tracking or MAYBE a ranking system. But this in both many way can both take away the fun (anonymity and war) of Halo CE or greatly improve upon it in many ways (competitively)

Your thoughts?

No thanks, I don't want to see Halo CE's legacy ruined by Games for Windows Live.

Yeah, NO WINDOWS LIVE!!! The UI and online system are one of my absolute favorite things about Halo PC. The UI is so easy to navigate, so easy to work with, and easy to find anything. Setting up the controls is a dream compared to the awful h2v setup. You can make as many accounts as you want. No sign-up, no pop-ups. Have an Internet connection? Good, just load up the game, hit internet, hit join game, refresh. Bam, you're in control. Want to make a game, choose Internet or LAN, easy as cake. It took me forever to get Live setup for h2v, and I don't like it that much. "Please enter your e-mail, address, phone number." I don't need all this paperwork, let me play the game already.

1) Better netcode. I don't want so much lag!!! But, that will be in there of course.
2) Put in those gametypes like Headhunter, VIP, blah blah blah.
3) Put in some new maps. Just like in ODST on disk 2 where there were 3 new maps.

^This

Also H2V barely works on Windows 7, I can't get any Games For Windows Live Games to work on my machines at all and it seems 70% of us Win7 users can't at all.

Halo CE for XBox 360 I'm fine with, XBL is great, GFWL sucks really bad, the entire scheme was poorly introduced and poorly developed, also Microsoft like to tell me that it's my fault their faulty software won't work on my brand new hardware, so they can GF'ed

As for backwards compatability, that is a big no-no, maybe a tag/map convertor, I would not have a problem with that even if it meant sitting for a few hours while it converts.

If they wanted to do this, they might as well give us the source code for the original engine.

Ha I'd like to seem them do that. I've been bugging Bungie, GearBox, and Microsoft over the past 3 years for that thing. Apparently Microsoft is the one who has it.

How about bring some h2, h3, or hreach favorites to Combat Revolved. That would be kind of weird. Oh, how about a new firefight. Halo Combat Revolved Firefight.

If they add or change the Story what so ever I may lose it.

I mean come on its only been 10 years, this game does not need a remake.

It only needs an Update.

A decade warrants a game update, meaning modern graphics capabilities and effects, if they touch the storyline too much (or at all) no one will play it.

That was kinda obvious from the start.

Honestly though, I'd much rather see a Halo Reach port with a HEK like Halo CE's. Even though I hate the weapons and gameplay system, it wouldn't be to hard to modify.

I doubt they could do a netcode fix though without having the source. Or fix it at all.

Cause it would be so sweet to play Co Op Campaign on Halo CE

I just want the physics to stay the same! I love that in Halo 1 grenades felt like they did something.

Speeding Warthog about to kill you? Land a grenade under it and watch it soar!

In current Halo's well... your gonna die, or wait probably not since new physics say moving vehicles only do damage to teammates :/ hahaha

Well, I think they could improve some of the death animations. And make the grenades a wee bit less powerful.

Because you don't have an Xbox 360 is probably why. I've already had arguments on other forums about which is better and honestly, PC and 360 are equal. I can play both types of games (mind you, no auto-aim because it breaks sniping in my experiences) I will agree that in some cases you just need a more powerful rig because Fallout greatly dislikes my Xbox.

yeah there about the same but a keyboard feels more comfortable than that fatty xbox controller (still good) but no as a keyboard.

Don't we all have different characteristics and preferences that makes us different? That's what makes this world so colourful.

For me-I am better at the keyboard than the joystick. It's like playing on a piano.

Halo 3 PC? Myth.

Halo CE Redux PC? Really doubt it's gonna happen.

Sadly, I highly doubt that any of the Halo games that were made for the 360 will ever make it to PC...although the Halo community at large wants it so.

If it DOES come to PC, then

I would love to have Custom Edition with a new engine <3

Less lag, synced AI, all the good stuff from H3 and beyond would be awesome in the H1 remake :3

On a personal note, I can play Halo fine with either controller or keyboard, but I'm more inclined to use the keyboard because I (and the vast majority of Halo players) have been using it ever since it came out for PC.

^ Yep exactly lol. I always believed Consoles to be platform games. It feels more comfortable to be on a pc cause the mouse makes it more fun, its like you actually have a gun in your hand instead of an analog stick. I find PC shooting more fun, my opinion

Don't forget the fact that you can aim far better with a mouse than with a controller unless you turn down the sensitivity on the analong stick (which, in a firefight, you do NOT want to do).

I'm constantly told by my friend whenever I play PC/CE on his computer that I (when sniping) aim like I'm using a controller anyways :P

It took me a while to get used to aiming with the Wiimote for the Prime Trilogy, but once I got used to it, then BAM! I was on a killing streak.

I still prefer the GCN's controller for Prime 1 and 2, though.
