What Have I Done?

Dunno what you're so mad about, those look like great maps to me. You can just tell that the creator just completely devoted his time to this map. All the care and attention to detail really shines through in the map design.

I agree, the BSPs are very beautiful.

There is nothing to solve other than the narrow mindedness of people who cannot grasp the concept of diversity and can't fathom that other people have different likes and dislikes. I have said it before: "It is not all about you."

But seriously, what's wrong with Halo: 3 maps?

People in this community are more worried about gameplay than enjoyability, so they automatically dislike the halo 3 maps. =D

I'm actually only talkin' about the fact that people use the brackets around their map names. As far as I know, I was the first to start using that for the H3 and H2 maps, and since then, people have been doing that to an extreme.

Well I don't see how a map with terrible gameplay can be enjoyable for more than a few minutes during which time all you do is run around testing the weapons.

In my opinion, running around with an overpowered weapon destroying people left and right is a lot more fun than getting stuck in a boring repetitive pistol shootout.

That's why I like maps that are narrow, have a lot of cover, have numerous ways to go, a few of which leave you open to snipers if you aren't careful. That's why the large maps have no tactical gameplay whatsoever and it's simply if you can aim/hide well with your explosive sniper you win. *caugh* coldsnap *caugh*
Maps have to have more varying terrain and MAKE the player make a decision on what he or she does and what weapons that person wants to carry.

Close quarters: shotties and flamers are best maybe assault rifles.

Mid range: pistol, rockets, and some more accurate assault rifles/burst rifles are best

long range: Snipers mostly, and rockets do well here also.

Also, a good map for this will not have a sniper roost without sneaky access for assassination. Getting a rape sniper in a roost without even having a chance is BS. Maps with these secluded sniper roosts are bad for the average, and also laggy, gamer.

One of the best large maps I have ever played on is Highlands from Halo: Reach. Each Teams base has cover so there is no Base-to-Base Sniping. The center has two structures on each side and the ground in between has enough cover for Infantry, but still works for Pumas and Ghosts. Each of the side structures have a shotgun and a ghost and heavy weapon. The map balances all type of combat and has a beautiful environment.

Think of it more as a dictatorship than anything else - he is the ruler who pops in once in a while, and we are the minions. As the dictator, I guess he could do whatever he wanted.... o.o
