Alright for my firefight, the human weapons that I have that might be in the map are:

H3 Assault Rifle
H2 Battle Rifle
H1 Pistol
CMT Ma5k
Rocket Launcher
Sniper Rifle
H3 SMG
ODST SMG
H2 Shotgun

For starting weapons I will have either

h3 assault rifle
and
h2 battle rifle

or
ODST smg
and
h1 pistol


What do you guys think I should have as the starting combo. Also, I think I should not include the h3 smg.


Or perhaps loadouts would be a good idea, using starting profiles.

But I'm not sure how you would script that.

It would be wise to combine weapons, you must keep as generic as a tag set as possible so the player can understand what weapon to use where.

For instance I see you have 2 types of smgs, that isn't necessary, pick one or the other. In addition, the H3 BR and H3 AR are condensed into the MA5K, it serves both purposes. I would suggest getting rid of the AR and BR and making the MA5K the workhorse of your survival.

In total I would have:

CMT MA5K Carbine
H3 Pistol (Sandtrap)
SPNKR Rocket Launcher (CMT Tag release [I think])
CMT SPV1 Shotgun
H3 SMG (Yeah sure, the ODST one is cool looking, but in reality it is discouraging to use.)
H2 Sniper Rifle

I can understand your desire to have a diverse tagset but the fact of the matter is half the time the player will not use them. I would increase the MA5K's accuracy and a slight increase in stopping power to make it the desirable weapon. Although to be completely truthful, if you perfect loadouts and differentiate them distinctively (ie, Shotty & Pistol, MA5K & Pistol, etc, etc) that would be pretty cool too.

Yeah, that's a good idea. I didn't want to have too many weapons, because like in ODST firefight, there are only 2 weapons in the spawn area, and the player starts with the same weapons. So you don't get the awkwardness of having too many weapons. And it works well, because the ODST smg is accurate, effective, but not cheap. Alright, I'll edit the weapons to make a small, but fun tagset. (saves tagspace too :P)

I would suggest using anything other than the Halo 3 weapons, they're all crappily fake-bumped.

Well, I have been experimenting with the h3 assault rifle and an edited h3 pistol. I'm editing the damage_effect for the pistol so it isn't too cheap. (My goal is to make the map feel as Reach-like as h1 will go). Collision is definitely one of the best ways to do that.


WOW, I have finally fixed all of the collision, and it works beautifully. I have a lot of confidence in my map now. The combo works so well, and the two weapons are balanced out to match each other. Just like the ODST pistol and ODST Smg in h3odst.
