I kind of forgot that a lot of people don't know about this... So i thought I'd show you guys a quick tip for cmd.

First of all, no matter what system you have you have a cmd prompt you can access somewhere. I'm also pretty sure what i'm going to tell you is universal across Windows Computers.

Get the path to the root hek install directory. Copy it/put it into notepad.

Now, on your desktop put a shortcut up. When the wizard pops up set the Target to:

%windir%\system32\cmd.exe

**Edit: IF you're on WinXP and this doesn't work, change system32 to system?**

Press ok. (If you aren't prompted for a "Start in: " field- on win7 you are)

Next, right click the new shortcut to CMD and set the "Start in:" field to your root hce directory. (Make sure it's in quotes "C:\Your directory" )

This way you don't have to go to HCE directory every time you need tool. I hope someone finds this useful!

Thanks Dwood, but I can't run tool for some reason, it closes fast as it opens :/

I am executing it from the Halo CE install folder.

'tool.exe' Is a command line utility used to compile various halo-related objects.

To use it, you have to run it with a set of parameters. The easiest way to do this is through a command prompt window, or cmd.exe. (Read Dwood's post for setting it up)

Then you run a command on it, for example: 'tool build-cache-file dir dir'

Simply double clicking the program will cause it to print it's help function then close due to the fact it has no operations to perform.

I put it in a folder I created in Levels, if I shouldn't do that where should I put it?

That is not what he said to do.
You need to run cmd from the halo ce root directory, not system32.

I found the problem. When I try to export to .jms a window w/ a message appears saying I have no geometry selected, if I click on save, the saved .jms file has 85 bytes(witch for a map it's impossible), so I think I am doing something wrong w/ saving it. i am using Ghost's .jms exporter. BTW I do have selected the geometry, when I click on export it unselects, if I find a solution I will tell you guys.

OK, 1st, make your own thread if you want help
2nd, answer the questions , if you want help.
3rd, did you even watch any tutorials? or search for an answer?
4th, its because your level is not linked to a frame, you would have known this if you had watched a tutorial or searched for an answer.
