Dead isnt exactly the word i would use. The community is highly active but lacks the amazing modders it has seen in its recent history. The servers however seem to be the problem. The constant release of random maps, good or bad, is leaving the game highly disorganized. The reason for there only being full servers on original maps is due to the fact that everyone has that specific map. What the community and the game needs is a few amazing maps like extinction or coldsnap that will get players started again. It is also up to the player to keep the game alive. If you know inactive players keep em up to date on whats goin on or try to get new players started.

So the '10-'11 generation really hasen't heard of him to much. Also he hardly ever posts, if you look at his posting data it says: Arteen has contributed to 396 posts out of 325714 total posts (.12%) in 1,060 days ( .37 posts per day). Not trying to be mean here or anything. It's just that we hardly ever hear from him anymore.

I think i did stop posting alot once the New Gen of 2010 and 2011 kids came to CE. It's like a flood happened a few months before Reach and the community was swamped by the New guys wanting to make maps, and get a CD key for reach to have there nameplate.
So yeah, I blame the noobs on this one, So I'm gonna go back to hiding again and work on CE3 2011. Wait what?

Just a friendly funny way of addressing someone. As far as recent contributions, you should check out the Modacity Reach Mapping thread posted below. Arteen has made some really cool stuff on Reach in the last couple of months. http://www.modacity.net/forums/showthread.php?22041-Modacity-Forging-Guild-(Name-TBD)

Quote: --- Original message by: MoooseGuy The Halomaps community is like a big scab. People join and it grows, but uncontributing members soon fall off and leave the scab. Big projects can be released, helping the scab heal and gain more members. Sometimes, large groups or important members or projects will be unsuccessful due to life issues or whatever else, and it acts like someone picking this scab. But this soon regenerates after the wound is left alone for a while. Soon, the whole scab will disappear, having done all of it's work, and time will have slowly fulfilled and nullified it's purpose of being. I see you mentioned uncontributing members there, but that's totally invalid. There is no such thing as an uncontributing member in a gaming community. Ever player has a purpose. I can easily provide a list of just a few of the purposes players provide. Each player that plays on a game contributes to the activity on that game. This means that even if they're noobs, they're still boosting activity. Most players on games reccommend games to their friends. This promotes even more activity and keeps a game alive. When a map is released, a player may see it but not post anything about it on the forums. HOWEVER, they will probably tell their friends, who will then tell their own friends, who will then tell their own friends, and the chain goes on. This means that at some point, somebody's going to tell an intelligent and active member about the map, and then they will contribute to the forums. A true noob can not beat an intelligent player. However, they can beat other noobs. Many losers get very angry when they are killed on a game, and they often decide to leave a server. This means that for every noob that plays, another noob will stop playing. Not exactly a positive purpose, but it's a purpose. For every server that is full of noobs, there can be another server with the single purpose of being the opposite of the noob server. What else can intelligent server hosts do? If there were no noobs, there would be no people annoyed at noobs, and so no consumer base of intelligent people wanting to avoid noobs. Almost the same as the last one except that mapmakers can also be inspired by noobs. Many mapmakers seem to be inspired to make maps by the fact that so many noobs mess up maps and upload rubbish maps. Be honest, why is that you want to make maps? Is it because it's fun making maps, or because it's fun playing decent maps?

I think the community has gained two or three grumpy members. We're still creating content and stuff.

Let's look at all this:
2001- Halo CE best game for the xbox, later ported to the PC, then got a MAC version. Going Strong
2004- Halo 2 is released, everyone razed the servers in XBL, but Halo 1 was still being played. Still going strong
2006- Halo Custom Edition was released, people went wild, made maps, had fun. Good Old times
2007- Halo 3 was released, and a PC version of Halo 2 was also released. But Halo 1 is still strong. Halo CE was filled with SPv2 stuff and everyone was hyped for the release. VERY STRONG
2009- Halo 3:ODST was released, hell'a great but it wasn't as good as the third or second. CE still great.
2010-Halo Reach was released, and CMT broke up SPv2 was cancelled. Grief covered the community, but this wouldn't stop the players enjoying the game.
2011-Rumors of a Halo Combat Evolved re-make by 343-I is going round, a possible replacement?
I don't really know, haven't visited or played for a very.... very.... long while now.
If a re-make is released for the PC, and Xbox 360. There is bound to be a dramatic decrease and increase in the community's population.

Well, in my opinion, the content being made for CE is better than before. Take a look at some of the new tags being released.
P.S.
I didn't like Garrysmod, not nearly as good as CE, except I liked the graphics though.
