Make it a Chow Hall or something? Or have one as a Mess hall and the other as like a barrack or locker room or something. I will have the generator pic's at a later time.

Made a generator design for ya. VID: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-KxlWLQ5pg

Basically a triple piston fusion generator. NO effect's are in that and nothing is smoothed at all. As it is just a design. Lighting failure because I ddin't put any light's or anything. Just the model.

Not sure about a mess HALL, but I could put a bench or two in one of them and make one like just a small mess area. Locker room most likely won't work unless I remodel one of the rooms to not have a ramp or I put in a partition wall. However, that wouldn't be too hard so I may do it. One be a mess hall area and one be a locker room. Sounds like a decent idea.

I like the vid btw, yeah it was obvious it's mainly an idea as of now so I won't hold any smoothing or anything against you. I like it though. Would you be up for final modeling and texturing it?

For the locker room it could be like the one in HL. Just a bunch of lockers around on the wall and some benches.

I am willing to model but textureing isn't my strong point. I can learn though.

A quick texture update for people who are keeping up on this. I've been working on the halls going to the middle down in the bottom. Hope you like!

The green bricks in the back dosen't really match the industrial things you have going on IMO.

make the tunnels in some parts go natural since most generator facility's are underground

Well, they're not really bricks. It's just a simple cement wall with a paint line. The textured areas go from cement type textures in the side spawn areas to metal type textures in the middle. I also still have some transitions to make for going from one to another.

The picture you ripped the stone wall texture from is on the previous page, yes?

EDIT: Actually that texture kinda looks like something from Halo 2 or 3.

Some more texture updates for this. I may have a few more pics to add to this post later on tonight when I get the textures finished.
NOTE: These textures have more detail to do in them.

This is a image of the top area that is meant to look a bit cleaner and more kept than the bottom.

You may notice I flipped the caution trim from this...

to this.

This is the bottom middle room. I am not so sure on the panels with the yellow stripe down the middle.

EDIT:
last pic of the night/morning

Epic! Although the pics are starting to remind me of halflife maps. Doesn't make it bad, just gives me deja vu.

lol. You want to know the truth where most of the texture design comes from? A bit of real life of course, HL, Doom3, Halo 2 and 3, and a bit from some random game I saw on the internet. Though, none of the bitmaps are exact replicas and they are sort of merges of ideas from these games.

Did you used 3d Ripper DX for the textures?

Nah. I mean all those games INFLUENCED my textures the most. Nothing at all is ripped from anywhere and I have all the multiple layered texture files to prove it!

BTW, poly count is about five thousand something without the rails.
The rails are very simple though. I still have some ladders to do though so there will be a bit more coming in. Also, I have a hanging AC system to put in on each side of the map so that will take up a little bit of poly count especially with the vents themselves.

Well, halo weapons would not work. Hydro has volunteered some help on population so it will be modern. I don't DL many tags because I don't like dealing with corruption so I can't populate it with anything other than halo and this is definitely not really a halo styled map.

It's not that big. I forgot the exact dimensions but it didn't look to big in MAX.

As far as size of the map, let's say I want to find a good modern shottie to make this map really fun!
Sure it looks a bit open now, but when it gets some terminals and other scenery in the top and in the side cement rooms, it's going to really start getting some cover.

Opinion question. On the electrical transformers should I just lose the stupid wires? I have NO idea what to do with them to make it make sense so I figure screw it making sense at least there. XD
Unnecessary detail IMO

Also, thanks everyone for the encouragement! I am glad to see that there are a few people here very interested in this.

Just a pic showing how the ceiling ventilation is going.

After seeing the map with texture, I can safely say that I will now be able to explore the map without constant fear of an FEV subject stalking me. The original render made it look like the vaults from fallout. Nice map though, glad to see at least someone is making new BSPs. I have a few but I still can't get max to export them correctly.

Last post of the day/early morning. Main ventilation is completely done basically. Kept stuff very low poly so far.
BTW, if you think something looks stretched... it isn't. I have 2 separate bitmaps do deal with ALL possible sizes of vents and I only have 1 type of open vent. Sort of regret not having a short skinny one though. Oh well
