Blender is starting to become extremely more user-intuitive so it will be interesting to see....

Also, keep in mind their animations are all done in Blender. They don't get all the fancy tools that 3DS Max has to make fluent animation excessively easy.
Ironically, I believe Blender is supposed to (or was) the better program for animating. To my knowledge, Infinity Ward used it and by that logic, it's likely that Treyarch did to (although the FP's in that game are horrid at points >_>)

The rest of what you said about frames and interpolation is good though. Here in Halo, we're fortunate to have an easy-to-deal-with 3ds Max's default values.

Aka, what you see in Max/Renders is what you see in the game, with literally no editing required to make it work or look correct.

as far as free, supported 3D programs goes, it's pretty far up there. if you're not going to school for 3D stuff or working for a huge game company and don't have access to professional 3D applications, it's one of the best options you have.

really? I figured they would be using something like maya. I couldn't see a huge game company using Blender if they have other options.. then again, I guess it would be a lot cheaper.

Tons of companies use free, open sourced software (is blender open sourced?). Much better than getting a multi-thousand dollar license for multiple computers, and not having the ability to recode it for your purposes.

On the topic of Blender, I don't know if any of you have seen this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HomAZcKm3Jo

I don't know about you, but I'd find that pretty amazing, no matter what was used to make it.

Straying back on topic before Dennis yells at us, this is interesting. I haven't seen if it was answered or not, but do you need a custom firmware to run this on a PSP?

What is the lowest firmware you need for this? And will it work on OE-A firmwares? Do you need to overclock the PSPs processor to 333 MHz to play this?

Nope no current release date, but I do agree that Soltitude's animations need work and right now the knowledge about the full version of the game itself is limited since the creators have not yet updated their work.

ending this line of annoying quotes

you can find the leaked beta via google. there's not really much to it, just a few weapon swaps in the original Quake game, and it might crash the PSP. overall it gives me hope for the final product.

the hell is mk1

do you mean a psp1000/fat?

you'll need a pandora battery for your PSP model (buy one from http://pandorasales.com/ or make one, it's a very easy hardmod. look it up on youtube) and a decent sized memory stick, I personally have 16gb. the pandora battery bypasses the bios and lets you overwrite the stock firmware with custom firmware you install from the stick. latest custom firmware for the fat is, I think, 5.00m33-6. pretty sure any custom firmware will let you play homebrew though.

keep in mind some of the slims (2000 and 3000) are unable to be modded, according to various websites

the Mark-1 is what I call the 1st gen PSP model. You might know it as the "phat" or "PSP-1000" which is actually incorrect because it is labeled as the PSP-1001 model...

Anyway I will probably have to make a pandora battery box probably. AS well as get a bigger mem stick.

Is it possible to back up the default firmware in-case it messes up?

1000 2000 and 3000 refer to the series of psps, like how an nvidea 8800gt is an 8000 series. this is also the reason why some 2000s cannot be modded, the later models had prevention built into them. psp 1000s refer to any of the fatter ones with rounded backs, 2000s are the first slims that came out, and 3000s have the brighter, more vivid screens

as far as the firmware goes, I think there's a return to factory default option on the psp. if not, it's not really that big of a deal. you can just reinstall the cfw if it screws up, the pandora battery takes over the startup screen, which is separate from the firmware itself

You can back it up by doing a nand dump.

Soltitude Update:

From ModDB; Well, I feel pretty bad. I mean I've practically abandon this project during the release stage due to that evil thing (Real life). I've left most of the tedious work to Peter (Arkage) and Greg (Xalener). They've put in an extra 50% effort to compensate for my absence, every year, we put in extra effort during the ModDB (and also now IndieDB) Mod of the year awards. However due to the massive step up in our education (Doing my A levels now, Peter's doing a full time Game course and Gregs doing something american.) we just haven't had the opportunity to work as much as we'd like. For that: I'm sorry.

Now we have that out the way, lets cheer things up.

Solitude's release

It may have not hit ModDB yet, but Solitude has actually been released, and since two patches too! Why hasn't it been released on ModDB yet? Simple. We wanted to make it a better experience for the wider audience; in this case, ModDB. Our little community has been playing it for about a month now, and it's been given a better response then I could've hoped for. A few more patches, and you guys here should have neat little download!
Here's what the current alpha looks like!

The website

We've had the domain for a while, we've had the website ready for a while. It's just been a time issue, however hopefully www.figames.net will be up and running in no time!

I guess I should finish this up with a plea for votes, but late bit ehh. Mod of the Year and Indie Game of the year.

Where did the past year go? Feels like yesterday me and Peter we're staring at that bloody scoreboard and attempting to spam the hell out of this lovely site.

We might have had delays as bad as valve, teamwork as great as this, but I've had a hell of a year working on Solitude, and I can safely say Peter and Greg have too. It'd be a massive achievement to be in the top 100 list for the third year running. Very unlikely, but still worth a shot right?!

Stay tuned for a Moddb release sometime very soon!
If you like what you see, we encourage you to Track the Game to be be updated on future media, the more watchers, the more pressure I've got to make consistent updates!

Thanks guys, See ya!

-FI

microsoft would have shut these guys down a long time ago if they didn't like it, like they did with the halo RTS mod. and do you even know what you're talking about when you say "lose it's touch" if it's on another console? you do realize bungie was a mac developer before microsoft bought them out for their product, right? technically, if things had gone just a bit differently, halo wouldn't have even been an xbox exclusive. imagine how all the bungie fans from the early days feel, likely a lot worse than you do over this third party, open source mod fans are making for a portable system.
