update to 1.09

ive had my pc crashed a few times now due to them sort of losers,im not sure if you can do much apart from maybe recheck your ports and firewall etc

test your firewall and ports with this,it will show you of any holes in your system that can be breached,it an online scan and check,what it does is probes your system for any weakness and tells you. http://www.hackerwatch.org/probe/

oh yeah i should have explain ..the blue arrows are for running the test.top blue arrow tests firewall once clicked read carefully then click hitme and it will probe your firewall,same for the port scan.

nah it wont stop people joining your server,that's just a mcafee firewall and port test to make sure your firewall etc is in good order.i never run a server from my home internet cause of the hackers who think its fun to hit peoples pc's.just double check your security on your pc,but in saying that the sad thing is hackers will always find away.if you aint already done it update to 09 as maniac mentioned.and maybe have a look at comodos internet security its an awesome piece of kit.here a link to the firewall and antivirus premium its free to use and the firewall is the very same one that comes with the paid version. http://www.comodo.com/home/internet-security/free-internet-security.php

(also if that probe test finds nothing you will have a blank page with this text at top left corner if your running firefox)msxml3.dll error '800c0008'

fair norton is okay,it might be an idea for you to contact other people that run halo game servers and try to get a ban list of people they have caught crashing servers and put them on your ban list for good.some people that run servers work together by passing on that sort of info.

i don't run a server anymore and friends are main combat evolved servers,sorry.

It doesn't matter what you like playing on, that problem has been fixed in 1.07 and up.

They update the game for a reason other than just pirates FYI.

sergeant if u didnt notice by the purposely exaggerated bad spelling and crupload of exclamations i was too :P....and ya forgot the matter at hand. if u have a spare pc and such try to set it up as a dedi. doesn't require as much HW as a halo pc playing machine so pretty much any old junk would do :P

All versions prior to Version 1.09 have a buffer-overrun vulnerability that can crash the server. There is absolutely nothing you can do to protect yourself other than by running a version 1.09 server.

The reason they issued 1.09 was to correct another flaw in the gamespy code that was also a buffer-overrun that wasn't found in 1.07.
