This topic is redundant to the Semi-Official WIP thread.
But if you insist:

You all know by now what this is.

Not really, semi official gets posts from anything from vehicles, weapons everything therefore all of Denis' WIP stickies would also be considered redundant.

I consider them to be redundent. I wish they could all be in one easy to look in thread. I rarely go in those stickied threads mainly because it's a sticky and my mind always opens them once and thats it. Then there's also that I just don't go in some of them because most of the time when someone is making a vehicle its like a box vehicle. This is tough though because I'm sure there are some great things posted. If there was one thread with everything I would be able to view all the various projects. I wish Dennis would make this change.

and if all my mail went to my inbox, things I don't care much for would end up there. Remember we had a stickied thread not so long ago for the the semi official. It was removed by Dennis because of the shall I say "JUNK" that section accumulated. However, that was before he just started banning accounts.

sectioning off this stuff works better especially because people who are mainly interested in WIP in certain aspects of the game more than others can concentrate on those.
Anyway... Less talk moar pics-n-vids

Stop making this thread obsolete and just post your works in there. Rarely do people even post (or hell, MAKE) BSPs so a whole new [2nd!] thread is not needed. It failed last time and it's not going to work this time.

This thread is for BSP WIP! That is for anything. Some people want to only see BSP/Weapons/Vehicles/Bipeds
that is why there are threads for them.

Post it in the semi official wip.

Its whats its for, for you works in progresses. If you go way back to the prehistoric time of this website there was only 1 WIP thread and it had over 200 pages.

Also, anyone else got some cool BSP's they are working on?

I do have a doom based zombie map I am working on actually, but as of now it only has a storage facility and a few models that are repeated throughout the map. If I can get 3ds to not just show a black screen when I go to open a map I could show you it's most updated version but here are a few things so far anyway. You may have seen these b4. IDK if I posted these in another thread or not.

that first picture has a bad perspective to it. The balcony there is NOT attached to the wall as it may look. I am still trying to decide how to go about making that supported whether it will be from the ceiling or from the floor or both actually.

My first BSP.

Looks good for a first. Remember to start breaking away from modeling from primitives once you get into the swing of modeling. Keep it up!

Why do useful threads like this die?

You may want to learn some unwrapping techniques. Trying to use box mapping and such through the shader definitions just makes for bad unwraps. Look for some good tuts on unwrapping textures to geometry. It's not too hard, especially for a lower poly BSP.

The point of the green stripe is to make the top and bottom of the cliff look like it merges with the grass. You have to make cliffs not tile so much like that.

Fixed the tiled cliff thing:

Great. I guess the next step is to not make it look so boxxy. Try using editable mesh, and lower a few of the vertices (dots) arount the outside. Do you know how to do soft selection? Use that to make the tops of the cliffs wavy.

Not bad for what I'm assuming is your first map, and first experience with gmax. I still don't know how to use soft selection properly, if I want some sort of sculpting done I do it in Maya...
