I've done other stuff earlier, this isn't my first experience, and soft selection is simple to use...

Sorry then. I know it's simple, just never think of it/easier in Maya. And I've actually never tried playing around with it, things I shall do when I get back to modeling.

Sculpting in Maya beats soft selection in 3ds Max any day dude....
Caboose has the right idea.

Done, less boxy:
Looks much better with the wavyness. You could make the cliffs shorter still, though.
It looks like you have cliffs on the outside edge of the level (like you can see on the very bottom-left of the pic, and a bit on the bottom-right.
Those shouldn't be there... If you look at a map in Sapien, you'll notice that it all looks inside-out.

Hey you gotta work your way up somehow. I had maybe 20 or so maps I never even thought of releasing before what I am at now. Now I have a map that I am sure will be released (hopefully soon) that I have had tested and liked by a lot. And that was before a lot of changes were made to improve it.

I made a tube, with a cylinder inside of it, animated to slide up and down the length of the tube to shoot stuff out... Did not work needless to say.

Map? Was an indoor cave box and was huge, with two holes extruded into the sides.

Considering how long ago you started learning modeling, I think you are doing pretty well, assassinchief. Remember to use my technique for your next attempt.

I think my map looks good, doesn't matter how it looks from the outside of the map to me. I'll watch tuts on how to make decent indoors soon.
The map WON'T WORK if you keep the cliffs on the outside.
And enough about modeling techniques... what's done is done.

Makin' a canyon out of old BSP parts. the idea is mine but I used stuff from a30b, beaver creek, rio outpost, and tutorial.

magical pictures of wonder:

Basically it is a base in an old canyon. And there will be more later...

please, don't have the mountains clipping through the base like that. no base would ever be built with terrain just popping through it, any architect would clear the terrain out before building

Ever heard of OLD buildings? These are really really old buildings. that is why there is dirt on the buildings.

they're already textured. easy to assume why the hell would somebody go back and retexture something that's already textured

I can see that everything there aren't your models, trust me, learning on how to model everything from scratch is the key to awesomeness.

There is nothing wrong with using parts of already made meshes. I even would encourage doing so becuase you'll be more likely to get things done and just overal be more productive.

Because this is just a first version. I will be using better textures but this is what I found off-hand.

Also is the Halcyon cruiser in extinction on proper scale? or are the a10 and d40 ones correct?
