OK guys, I have fixed Solitude's lighting. The question is, there isn't much for me to work with lighting wise, so would you guys like the map with my good fixed lighting, or do you want it revamped to something much different, which could take a lot longer?
I think the way I have fixed the lighting on the bsp is good, and there are no more super dark areas, and lighting cast from shiny objects is enhanced. Don't expect this to look as if I had designed the map from scratch for pretty lighting, which is usually the only way I am able to pull off hole-in-one lighting in the first place. The lighting has been fixed purely by shader and skybox modification.
Anyways...

My personal opinion is to keep the lighting the same. We do not need it revamped. Besides it's awesome as it is!

i still dont understand why you cant just release the current build as a beta, then release the perfected one on halomaps as a final release

Pictures of fixed lighting:
Left is new, right is old.

Bottom right is actually better than the one to its left. I honestly hate maps lit up to a point there's almost no shadows or dark spots; they don't look or feel right at all.

Bottom right looks more realistic, the upper two pictures are too light and too dark respectively.

OK, so apparently you guys aren't taking on to the brighter lighting...
I'll see if today I can try to strike a balance between the two.

So, which is it guys???
I have 3, no... 5 people saying that this lighting is good,
and I have 3 people saying that it's too bright.

Lets have a poll.
Darken the lighting - 0
Keep this lighting - 0

--------------------------------------------------

Oh, by the way, I can has this in my personal version?

Lol.

Why the hell do you guys need it to be lighter? Personally, just make it a balance between the two. Right now, it's too bright. Make it darker, but not as dark as it used to be.

Darker outside, and mid lighting inside but with some unlit areas so you can still have some shadows and lurk in the darkness

You need to make a good balance between light and dark, you want a little dark(but not to much where the player can't see), and you don't want too much light. Personally I think it is a TAD too bright. Just darken it a LITTLE and you should be fine.

Yeah guys, the new lighting is much better seen in-game. The problem with the overview picture is that there is fog in the background, making it seem as if the lighting is more flat than it actually is.
Anyways, now that Solitude is almost done, soon me and a few others, including Shadowslayer, are going to begin work on a little project I like to call Firefight-Descent. More on that later.
