Hey guys, just wondering if there is a map that contains a halo 3 pelican features including
-Real working closing and opening back cargo door -Realistic Textures -Realistic Cockpit -Real skin etc
Sorry if im asking for to much i just looove halo 3 pelican and vehicles
if there is not a map that contains this is it possible for someone to make one?

There's a nicely modeled one somewhere. Regrettably, it is textureless, and has no animation. It would be epic if someone fixed that.

As I said, it has no textures, therefore tool will not like it. It has no animations, therefore we won't like it, because it'll look like a stiff model, no movement whatsoever. It has no weapons, nodes, frames, markers, blah blah blah, so it ain't gonna work. However, if someone were to put in the appropriate nodes, animate the thing, and texture it accordingly, then it's feasible that it could be transformed into an operational vehicle.

You should be able to get the retail animations using The Ghost's animation importer (I think). I've never tinkered with it, so I don't know how effective it is, but it supposedly imports animations perfectly. Animating that to the Halo 3 model shouldn't be too tricky then. And I'm sure someone out there has extracted the Pelican's skin from Halo 3. The only thing left would be UVWing, then we'd have the basic model to go off of. I could add the nodes, tag it, and such, but I'm preoccupied at the moment with Requiem.

ok i've been working on closing all the open edges and i'm gonna add the nodes from stock pelican. i just need the textures. or else it'll just be a default pelican with a model upgrade lol. it seems to have been uvw'd but i dont know until i put some textures.

I know how to get the animations :), its just that I'm not sure if the model_animations file is in the retail pelican tags.
E: Yeah there's no animations in the folder. I'll just download some pelican tags and use its animations.

yea it would be good if someone could finaly make the real h3 peli with every detail, but they cant find the right tags and textures. but if i could make on i would for u guys not saying i am really going to make it cuz its a pain looking around for that stuff.

If you think you can do from-scratch animations for a pretty much made from scratch rig, I could send you the model and let you assist in finishing it off. All I ask is that you agree to me publicly releasing the tags when we have it done.

I'll I can do all the retail animations, and I can make scratch animations for weapons like the flamethrower, but that's pretty much it.

Stop resorting to rips because you don't have the skill to do it your selves, learn. dammit.
Animating vehicles is so easy... you just rotate the objects at different keyframes, use the Halo1 pelican animations as a template...

I can do the animations RIPPED or SCRATCH. Doesn't matter which way I do them, as long as we get animations for them. But I suppose it wont KILL me if I make them from SCRATCH.

lol. i just want the uvw coordinates. if you want u can give them to me manually but that would take forever lol. just upload the saved uvw's somewhere and send me the link through pm if u don't want them out or anything lol. which i think is ridiculous that you wouldn't release the uvw's lol.

Well, like I said, I have the model rigged, it just needs the animations to really be finished - the collision is more of a matter of beating it out. If you can get it done, just PM me and I'll send the files for it.
As for Anonymous 2009 complaining about me using a ported model, frankly I don't care. I have better things to model from scratch - like a Falcon or something that's actually new and not available. Why should I waste the effort on something that's already done? I see no reason to recreate something that's already available and easier to work with. I already know how to UVW and texture models, but I see no reason to waste my effort recreating something that is done already. If you really want to criticize me for using a ripped model, how about you go do it instead, if you're so good at it? I prefer to allocate my effort into things that actually are something new, not something someone's already done.
