I create tif files in photoshop, and make them 100x100 in dimensions. I run the bitmap code in tool, and i get this:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition>tool bitmaps scenery\car\bi
tmaps
Couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map'
### black_texture.tif
skipping bitmap with non-power-of-two dimensions (#100x#100#1)
### car_texture.tif
skipping bitmap with non-power-of-two dimensions (#100x#100#1)
### carwheel_texture.tif
skipping bitmap with non-power-of-two dimensions (#100x#100#1)
### darkgrey_texture.tif
skipping bitmap with non-power-of-two dimensions (#100x#100#1)
### redlight_texture.tif
skipping bitmap with non-power-of-two dimensions (#100x#100#1)
### windshield_texture.tif
skipping bitmap with non-power-of-two dimensions (#100x#100#1)
### yellowlight_texture.tif
skipping bitmap with non-power-of-two dimensions (#100x#100#1)

what am i doing wrong?

As you can see, the output says tool is skipping bitmap with "non-power-of-two dimensions". 100 is not a power of two, whereas 128, for example, is. The power of two "limitation" does not apply to hud elements if I recall correctly, but this does not stand now since I see you're compiling some textures. Just make your tifs in 2^n x 2^n.

thanks so much! i changed the tifs to have dimensions of 128x128, compiled it, and then it worked! thanks! but i'm also wondering why the tifs need to have dimensions that are to the power of 2?

Look, the way halo draws its 3d is complicated. But bitmaps have to me a power of two on both sides.
Bitmaps for HUD don't have to be power-of-two.

I'm tryin to compile bitmaps for hud and im getting the...

skipping bitmap with non-power-of-two dimensions (#1020x#128#1) error.

how can I fix this exactly? the element im trying to compile is almost as large as the screen with wize.

But I don't understand why you say bitmaps for hud are any different?
