I don't see why it would be a problem.... I posted a thread like a month ago about it with like one or two teaser shots but I can't bump the thread since I replied in it last, so I figured I'd make a new thread with newer screens, since I have completed alot more since last time. And yes the map is from the first halo so it belongs here :P

Well seeing as lately you are trying to play moderator, I'm sure he's getting just a tinsy bit ticked off at you.
I would say the thread is fine, and coming here is always a nice place since we should know the map best and be able to point out tiny errors and the likes. Whether or not Dennis will allow it is, miraculously, up to him to decide and not you.
Edit: Like one thing I'm noticing, which I always hated in the original map, is the center of the level where there's those four bridges. I feel they're kind of narrow, and UT3 is a much faster-paced game than Halo 1 is, so I would recommend perhaps making them a bit wider to maybe even allow for a few fights up there without people falling off and to their deaths. Yeah... well the bridges you can definetley use your hoverboard and go across in about 6 seconds, plus it is meant to be an alternate route versus taking the ground path to the flag, so it's riskier that way. It's either "hmm do I take the safe ground path with a vehicle or risk a more dangerous route?"

Firstly Zira Vadum, quote things correctly. Please. Secondly, his thread has something to do with Halo CE and I see no reason to lock this thread although I can't speak for Dennis.

Excuse me, I haven't played UT3 (only time I actually played was at a friend's house one time, and then a free Steam weekend) so I completely forgot about the hoverboard. I would still think it would be nicer to have a wider bridge, but I see what you're getting at with it being a riskier path to take.

Press that and you'll see. And if you haven't noticed what 'quoting correctly' is already, it's these blue boxes that contain the message that people (such as you here in my post) have posted previously.

The way the Halo ring is sort of, bigger than in the original game and map...well at first I was going to say to fix it a bit but now that I look more intently it seems kind of neat and fits the UT3 style of 'bigger and more badass' (or, that's Gears but still: same developer, same engine. You get what I mean, ha).

There is no UT4 in existance and probably never will be for quite a few years. UT3 is the latest game in the UT series. Don't let this thread die by tomorrow! I'll be posting a gameplay video. You can check out my other halo map videos here if you wish: http://www.youtube.com/user/madcat75Warning loud music in the first video that plays!

Quote: --- Original message by: Zira Vadum Is it because of the high poly..? CE maps don't have a particular poly limit, with proper portals (or just a good computer) you can have some pretty high poly levels. The main difference you see though is in the lighting and perhaps shaders, most noticeable the water kicking the ass of Halo 1's water (which is still pretty nice actually). The thing with the UDK is that it doesn't have all the assets that UT3 does, plus limited actors and vehicles. I mean sure you could port the terrain, and turn the meshes into BSP brushes and import them into the UDK and texture by hand but that's really tedious. Best would to buy UT3 and ask me permission for the uncooked (uncompressed) version of the map to fool with yourself for a non-release version to play by yourself.

I think someone did an icefield for UT3 already, not sure though. But I did do Sidewinder for UT2004, can't remember what happened to it though.
I'd need tons of high res screenshots to properly do a map based on the halo reach world :P

Are you going to make custom vehicles and weapons? I saw another website which boasted custom Halo maps in Unreal Tournament 3. They looked ruuuubbbiiish. Because the weapons didn't blend in with the map at all.
I absolutely love the look of your map so far, but please make sure you have appropriate weapons for the map.

I wish I could, but making custom vehicles and weapons isn't really my forte since I'm not that great of a modeler But the current vehicles I have in there such as the viper (feels like of like the ghost) and the hellbender (feels like the warthog kind of) will have to do for now. Will demonstrate those vehicles in a video. Sadly there's nobody really willing to take on the tast of making the weapons / vehicles for a halo-ish UT3. Not that I know of anyways. But there's still master chief character which makes it that much closer to feeling like halo.
