I don't think any of you quite understand what really goes into making a good cinematic..

That's exactly why people are judging. If you haven't shown off anything you've done before, people will generally assume the worst, until you prove them otherwise.

fail. It costs thousands of dollars. You guys are really idiots. You dont show your work but think you guys are so good but with no proof. Geez, So far most replies on this thread are negative, For a good reason.

EDIT:
You guys are just making people pissed off because you cant achive anything right now, and its a waste of time trying to convince you guys that this project is a horrible decision, and also if you guys are going to make movie with ripped bipeds from halo 3 or any halo game that isnt intended for ripping will get you guys sued. No joke, If you dont get permission to legally release footage of something that does not belong to you, You will get sued, especially with big companies. M$ gun pwn u guys... think carefully, because from whats been heard so far... You guys arent.

Why don't you show us some animations then? You keep saying that we don't know crap about the animations, and people are going to assume the worst until you show us some of your work.

well considering you've never shown them, I'm guessing there not great. second of all, there's more to cinematics then just animations then just animations. i've made plent of cinematics are there's alot more to it then making animations look good.

Though animations are the main part of each cinematic, the ambient environment is also extremely important. What's the point of filming a large, action packed cinematic in an environment that doesn't fit / is extremely bland?

Yes, it's nice people can look up and down with custom animations in halo -_- To be honest, I didn't see anything so special about your animations. Many of those animations looked like bungie's default animation. All I saw that was custom was that people were looking around. Also, 0:20 was a failed attempt of getting out of a warthog, if that was even a custom animation. Also, the warthog's wheels were moving around like crazy and looked "high".

No offense, But looking around isnt something to be so proud about, I can do 3rdp animations... But just moving a head really slow doesnt show that your good. Me ive animated lots of things, H2 drone anims of which i dont know whats happened to them after i gave them away, And also a few death animations for the h1 cyborg. Ive made plenty more but arent complete. You guys really gotta learn not give an audience high expectations when you know it should be so little. But atleast im glad you guys actually showed your work. Keep it up, just keepon posting videos of your work for Critism, Youll need it.

LOOOL true, I bet it was only made just to show, just to keep people occupied, well it didnt. Animations need choreography.Which yours didnt.

Also, while Dratt's anims aren't too shabby for a cutscene, they would not be the type of material you'd expect to see in a Full-Length Cinematic Movie. If the entire movie looked like that, I probably wouldn't want to watch it... You guys are kind of overhyping this, setting the expectations too high...

The problem is, since the title of the thread was "Halo Cinematic Mapping Team", one could easily assume that the point of the video was to show off the entire cinematic.

The cinematic movie thing your going on about; it should have the same quality as a cutscene, so like, make your cutscenes actually decent next time.

The thing is though its Custom Edition; not a movie

Well if the people on this team have this apparent amazing talent at making animations, I would hope to see this amazing talent in there cut scenes, not just movies. The crap that "its just custom edition" isn't a good enough excuse, ever. You can always do better and everyone is capable of it. It's what you set your mind too.

And a 'test/wip' video is what everyone is gonna base an entire team off of

Well considering the fact its the ONLY thing this team has actually shown us, then yes, people would base you off of it becuase they haven't seen anything else..

Ok, um. Most of that wasn't even animations. The only "custom" animations I saw was when they turned their heads all over the place at the end. The rest was command lists :\
