I need 3 answers:
Gmax tutorials won't open. I searched on the internet, and most of them are community made ones, that aren't very good. Any one know of a really good gmax tutorial?
I want to know if it's possible for the Supernova ship(An enourmous ship I want to make) to be able to move, without people falling out. I don't want to start on it, then have the efforts wasted. Because it's supposed to be a giant flying cruiser ship, and people should be able to walk around in it while it's moving. Also, it will need to have AI on it.
I want to know if it's possible to make a stall kind of thing. Like, you could have credits that you collect on missions, then you go the stall, and you press a button to buy something. If you didn't have enough money, you wouldn't get the item, and the stall keeper would say something like 'Sorry customer, we don't give discounts'. And I also need to have items seperated so that more than one item can be on one stall, without players accidentally buying a different item to the one they wanted. Could I have like a menu that opens up when you press e near a stall?

What kind of gmax tutorials are you looking for. Just general ones for working with gmax or more specific for like animating and such?

When I learned how to model in gmax, I couldn't find many tutorials on gmax, so I used 3ds max ones. They really are similar programs. Gmax just isn't as complex.
I dont' think the ship idea would work. You can't move on a moving vehicle.
As for the shop idea, that is posible. You jsut need to know how to script. Though I am not sure if you can get a menu to work, but you can just have things lined out that say Press "E" to buy ITEM for $_____.

The ship would work as long as your in a SP level and its a scripted device thats animated.
It would be strictly limited.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncw3Sck8SfQOld video is old, but here's the points system. Though I utilized a pause menu to access purchase options, it isn't that much more difficult to use a device for it. There's also a more effective way to display the number of points, by using cinematic titles instead of a timer.

What if the ship only moved slightly each time, and went through enourmous invisible vehicle teleporters? Would it work then? Because then it could look like it's going fast, but it's really only moving slightly. But the illusion would stay.

I believe you would have a headache allowing people to move , because they would be teleported back to where they came from.

I remember FleetAdmiralBacon talking about making the floor a ladder. Idk how it would work out, but you could try it.

If you want the ship to appear as if it is moving then create an animated skybox that they see out the windows. Bipeds cannot stand or move on moving objects in a multiplayer map because device machines and animated scenery (the moving object) do not sync in a multiplayer map. Their status and position is not transmitted across the network and bipeds can not stand on vehicles when they are moving.

What if I made an extra layer around the ship? Because usually when the game glitches out when I'm in the draco, I just land on the floor below. So I could make an extra box around the ship, and have a ladder so that players can climb back up. OR I could keep the box idea, but instead of using a ladder, I could have teleporters laid around it that send you back up?

No, that won't work. You can't stand on moving vehicles without falling out. Ladders won't work either. Why do you want it so badly, won't a moving skybox work? Halo's engine can't handle it (at least not on multiplayer).

Because I want to make a large group of islands for roleplaying, and the Supernova is supposed to be the main aspect. It's meant to have a cutscene at one point, where you buy the Supernova, then it flies upwards, and hovers above the land, until a player drives it back down. I also want an airport system, where you can call in other ships, to climb on.

Quote: --- Original message by: l283023 It's part of the collision model, unless you're saying collision models don't sync.
Device machines don’t sync therefore their collision model won’t either. In Halo 1 you can't stand on a moving vehicle without sustaining damage. Look, this question has been asked and answered numerous times since 2004 and the answer is still and will remain the same: In Halo CE you can’t make a large ship that moves and have players move around in it. It is a limitation of the game engine.

Yeah, he did that by attaching a device to a vehicle. Even if it did work, it'd be extremely glitchy and laggy, and I doubt it'd work well online.
