JMW is the best to use for cutscenes at the moment, JMA is only useful if you have something that can be placed anywhere without looking messy, such as a single rock falling, that you can rotate in Sapien and have it fall somewhere else.

I think it would need to be 2, but animate them first in 1 max scene. Then export the mc and the elites animations separately.

JMA.

The reason why you're using a JMA is because the saluting animation is not dependent on the character's location in the world. For dropships and other objects that require to be at a certain place at a certain time during the animation, you'd use a JMW, or world relative animation. JMA works for most other cases.

Also, your title is a misnomer, as the ability to create new recorded animations has been locked. We can only import existing ones. What you're creating are custom animations.
