Ok, here's what i need help with: I want to make a gun that zooms (any zoomable gun) have heat vision. Like the kind of heat vision that you can see when you look at a person and you see there body heat output. Is this possible? I once heard of a project that was attempting to do this but, i have not heard about it in awhile. And NO i am not going to use this on a Multiplayer map. So NO this is not related to hacking AT ALL. I want to use thing in a Single Player map.

Thanks

no u cant have infrared

Unless you find a workaround. Hint: rig it to the flashlight key if you're going to use scripts. Else you'd have to fiddle around with the NV widget.

maybe modify the team arrows to highlight bipeds instead, although the IR won't work well because of moving arms and legs, it'd have to be a fixed bitmap. then, change it to include all players/bipeds.

i think the flashlight would be better than having it in the scope and you could still use the flashlight battery like they did the IR in R6.

It would have to work like the sniper's Night vision, try messing around with that screen effect first.. I'm not totally confident this is possible but you may be able to come up with something cool.

Actually PX173....YOU ARE COMPLETELY WRONG! I have been able to obtain a heat vision like tag from a friend of mine. SO, PX173, maybe next time you should look at all the facts first instead of jumping to conclusions and say "Its not possible" and "It can't be done". A thanks to everyone else (not including PX173) for the assistance with the difficulty. I hope to implant this new tag into my future maps.

Thanks

Why does everyone forget the random videos in my Xfire profile?

Where you the person who contacted me on Xfire a few days ago and I gave all the thermal tags and scripts to? Anyways, if you want em too, add me on xfire, but ill probly be to lazy to give that through of an explanation, you'll more have to study what I give you, and apply it to other things.

To me it looks like a script that changes the biped/map color etc...
If that's possible.

Yup, open every gbxmodel, duplicate a permutation, pick one of the LODs in it, go to that model area, duplicate it, referance it towards one of my shaders ive setup, and then just use scripts to mass change everything between thermal and normal, and have a thermal BSP too.

the shader uses a cubemap and glow to try and control the colors making inner parts look warmer (or colder) and the outsides look cooler (or warmer) and one pure red one for if its burning up. the BSP, I just basicly took a dark blue in photoshop, and then used the original texture as an overlay, but I guess you'd get the same effect if you just used a blue bitmap and used the original texture as a detailmap.. it would be alot easier.

Hey PX173...LOOK AT THE POST PROVIDED BEFORE POSTING! I mean COME ON! Its like "no brainier" to look at the posts provided before you post and ask a question that has already been answered. And kirby_422...i am sorry to not have referenced you in my last message that tells about the "thermal vision". Since you made the tags, i should have made a comment that gives credit to you (as the maker).

Yes. Yes I did read them. Yet I fail--

This is enough.

Kirby explicitly posted a link to a video containing heat vision, as well as an explanation on how it works. If you read all of those, and still accuse the OP of not being able to get it done, shame on you.

Because he said to read before I post. And as you can see, kirby's post is pretty much after mine.

Kirby's post with the explanation as to how it works was directly above yours.

The post with the video link was even further up.

I'm asking "how do you expect me to see that video when it's right after mine?".

And when I asked for proof, I meant proof that is was possible before I posted. Probably because he flamed me with no reason at all. Then kirby posted the link and made videoman look like the smarter one.

That's not what I'm concerned about. What I care about is that you ignored a post WITH PROOF directly underneath his rebuttal. You could have stopped posting in this thread, or you could have admitted that you were wrong. Instead, you had to attack videoman and claim that there was no proof as to what he had said, when the proof was DIRECTLY BENEATH his post. You can either continue this pointless argument, arguing for a cause which we can all see is flawed, or you could end this argument now.

To be honest...this thread was NOT created to argue over petty matters, and it was also not created to bring chaos to this Awesome Halo map making forum. So PLEASE...JUST FREAKING STOP!! I am getting sick of all this, and besides...if this keeps up....Dennis will HAVE to intervene. and possibly lock and shut down this thread post. I REALLY dont want that to happen, so please JUST STOP! and If you ask for my opinion...Gamma is right, but that is beside the point. just please.....i am asking: STOP. THIS IS MADNESS!...lol

Thank you for any cooperation given

Of course it isn't supposed to bring chaos, chaos has already been here for the past few years.

And my point is, that the only reason I attacked him was because he attacked me for no reason at all.

ok...i am thinking that Dennis needs to intervene, this guy is not going to listen. And i think that the only way to get him to listen to is to BAN HIM! I am not telling Dennis what to do, i am only suggesting. I did not want to say it, but anything any of us say, he will always have a come back. and we are wasting our time on a person who does not care about other peoples opinions he only cares about his and only his. Not only that but he thinks that he is always right and nobody else is. I (personally) think that he should not be allowed to be part of this Halo community and also not be able to post. I am just saying that this is my opinion, but the final word is up to you Dennis, Please make the right decision(s).

I am Done with this guy, But i will keep post on this Halo Forum. But i will always respect other people opinions and ideas.

Videoman

PS: If anyone else is thinking what i am think (that he needs to be gone), please say something. I am just asking for others opinions. Just post, and hopefully this will be taken care of (properly).

a) You blatantly ignored posts of proof. Even though they were posted after his post, the fact that they were there meant that you should have read it.
b) Even if you didn't see it earlier, now that we've pointed it out to you about seven times, you should have read it / watched the video by now, and seen that it is indeed possible.
c) Your stubbornness is making you look like an ass right now, as you STILL say that it isn't possible, and you refuse to read the proof.

I'm done arguing with you. If you seriously don't see the proof which is in this thread, and you still wish to argue your point, fine. Go ahead. I've lost any respect that I've held for you.

WOW! I think its time to this was over....PLEASE DENNIS! I think this guy is not going to listen...and is a complete jerk and idiot. I would be a good choice to get rid of this guy...its people like PX173 who make this community look bad and makes it so that people dont want to join or be part of the Halomaps forum community. So please i ask you...BAN HIM! Like a said before, i am not telling you what to do...i am only asking it s a request and hopeful wish that will be granted.

Thanks
