Hey its me Slayer 117/Slow Bullet with another idea possibility for halo CE.

ok here it is.

Is it possible to make a single player where the outcome is diffrent by the choices you make in the level. like lets say you dont choose to save this person so then you go towards a new check point and down a diffrent path in the level. so basicaly the options you choose lead to a good or bad ending. kind of like the silent hill games and other RPGs out there.

basicaly my concept is each time a choice is offered you get 2 check points one leading to the right choice one leading to the wrong choice.

so is this possible?

I'm pretty sure it is. Its basically scripting and variables I believe.

pretend # is a trigger volume (tvol)
the triggers are set up like this:
   #(tvol2)                     #(tvol3)

#(tvol1)

So, from tvol1, you have a path to either choice.

(global boolean did_you_choose false)
(script startup choose_your_destiny
(sleep_until (volume_test_objects tvol1 (players)) 15)
(set did_you_choose true)
)

(script continuous script1
(if
(= did_you_choose true)
(begin
(sleep_until (volume_test_objects tvol2 (players)) 15)
[hud stuff that displays what choice you chose]
(set did_you_choose false)
)
)
)

(script continuous script2
(if
(= did_you_choose true)
(begin
(sleep_until (volume_test_objects tvol3 (players)) 15)
[hud stuff that displays what choice you chose]
(set did_you_choose false)
)
)
)

Obviously, don't just copy/paste, because you have to fill in the HUD stuff that displays what choice you made.

Basically, just use a boolean to "save" your choices, and run certain scripts based upon what those booleans return.

I remember in a wonderful game Star Trek Elite Force that if you were late in timing to get certain places things may change and friendlies may die but then they stay dead the whole game and the dialogue and everything would change according to what had happened. Like for one of the bosses, the first time I beat him I did really sharty and he basically told me I was crap. Then I did the lvl again and did reeeealy good and he said I was going to be a formidable opponent. That kind of stuff would be cool to have. This was mostly in cut-scenes though.

yes. example:
i teamkill Chips Dubbo (the Aussie marine) in A30.
Outcome: when I get reinforcements another Chips comes (if the first was still alive he wouldn't have appeared... i think)

No, the marines in Halo CE were all random permutations. You could get multiple Sgt. Johnsons in a single level.
