And I didn't knew you lived in the UK. Thanks, are probably similar, I didn't really use any fancy tools within zBrush apart from texturing it and adding fine details to the mesh using a tool which lets you use photographs. And yeah UK, it's bad how some people in the community still know this lmao. ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Edited by Cheddars on May 16, 2015 at 08:57 AM Let's be honest, sshers isn't going to improve his modeling anytime soon. I think you mean sculpting. And don't be so harsh on the lad. He is on the train to success like most of us here, you just have to factor in the odd delays and derailments. Edited by SS Flanker on May 18, 2015 at 05:50 AM

Doesn't really look like he used tutorials no, but with practice he will get better. Hell, my first model was a modification of the Halo CE Sniper, I tried to turn it into the Halo 3 Sniper, and I thought it was awesome at the time ! aha!

That's a pretty natural looking cliff and ledge, and the way the path slopes down is looking good.
Obviously a WIP, but I would say just smooth out some of those more severe angles in the rock and you're golden - specifically the one at the top, since that one sticks out the most. I'm not sure how you are on polygons or how close you are to the limit, just my two cents.

The cliffs for me look slightly unrealistic perhaps adding a double ledge? Or a severe indentation or extrusion at the back of the pics would help? And obviously a reduction in the tri count since 30% of those quads seem unnecessary. Otherwise if you would has shown me this and asked me to guess the author, I might have said higuy.

Stop making your cliffs like this. You aren't making tons of progress by simply creating some uniform extrusions and lines inbetween the cliff faces from top to bottom. You need to add onto it. This is a fine base. But, what you want to do, is use the cut tool and start cutting away on these rocks. Cut and collapse vertices and create various kinds of cracks and edges. Make it look much less uniform. And remember, use reference pictures of rocks. You can do the same thing with the terrain, too.

Compare these to your cliffs. This is a desert-styled map I was working on. I used references of desert rocks to help me build the structure of the cliffs.

I'm particularly fond of the way you used the trade mark hexagonal print. I'm not much of a fan of the purple perimeter lines however, particularly in the upper bends. Overall I think it should encapsulate the cross hair and not try to "escapeŁ from it :D

Nex, limit the hexagonals to within the outer line and change the hue of both lines to be slightly more blue. I think that would look good. Oh, and lose the larger red hexagons too. Edited by Maniac1000 on May 23, 2015 at 11:46 AM
