I was thinking... that the original halo editing kit tutorial was/is rather... bare, and has a few errors and a bunch of holes in it.
I propose that we update the tutorial to contain more + better techniques for making maps in halo.
Some things that I would like to see in such an updated hek tutorial: Better portaling UVW-ing Basic + advanced ai tutorials A number of scripting tutorials, Include more info on the creation of custom strings, hud messages, and cutscene titles Tagging sounds Custom crosshairs, ui, bipeds, weapons, scenery, and vehicles, skies,
This is basically an effort to bring together more fully the collective knowledge of the Halo mapmaking and modding community so that we don't have to keep downloading videos etc. every time we need a reference.
I will be adding my knowledge and updating the hek as much as I can as well. I do hope that people will be willing to help me in this endeavor.

Yes we should be using text + images to update, just like the original tutorial. if i have the time, i might make it into a HTML site, and upload it to this site. Like the origonal HEK tutorial. But that's if i have the time... right now i have to do my year9 exams. Still got geography, and my christian studies. (i dont believe in the religion, it's the schools.)Thank god i have finished my Maths, English, LOTE, and Science exams. But someone would have to supply my the background images, and tiles. Like header images, and such. Because i suck at those. D: I should have time on the day after tomorrow, got the day off for exam correction! :D which should give me time to work on a site. once again: But someone would have to supply my the background images, and tiles. If you do FP animating, be sure to cover using the IK script so people can use custom rigs, link constraints, as well as the animation smoother button thingy in the lower left corner.

would there be any coverage on mapping with 3ds max 2010? most of the tutorials in the HEK only go up to 3ds max 8 and many features have been moved around.

If you're mapping with max, get 8. It's the best and easiest.
