The same reason ODSTs can flip hogs and tanks, a Spartan can't hold an SMG steady but can fire a rocket without breaking his back, the Warthog's unshielded turret makes no tactical sense whatsoever, the the Pistol and Assault Rifle have no iron sights.

It's a video game. And not a realistic one, either.

Remember kiddies, halo reach takes place before halo 1. Guns will be different then what you are used to by a long shot. Though covenant weapons have seemed to stay the same through out halo. Which brings to questions why the spartan laser looks more advanced then the halo 3 spartan laser? If it is before halo 1 then why does it look like a gun that is a squeal to halo 3.

im not sure if youre referring to the release dates of the games, or the time period between reach and halo 1, but during the time of reach they were testing a bunch of different battle rifles and pistols

I really hope they cut everything that was added after Halo 1, I hate getting new content in my games because it ruins the fiction for me and tears me away from the fun.

Actually I thought the carbine was made while the Elites were a higher ranking than the Brutes at the time, plus the carbine doesn't look primative like the other Brute weapons. So techinacally there is no possibly way Bungie is going to name the weapon an Elite Carbine or an 'Elarbine'.

It looks more like a Needler Rifle or Covenant version of an RPG (grenade or projectile explodes, it explodes with needles, much like the spike grenade). Possibly just even a perk or an extension to a needler; you attach the part to the needler and it shoot them 2-3x the speed it normally fire. Along with the leak, somebody did say there would be more options you can do with you weapon like perks, etc.

There are no perks, and there are no attachments.

Really? From the sources I read, I could remember somebody saying that; if I can recall, when I was reading the MLG forums and this Tom Morello guy said there were perks and attachments. Idk, but I feel that Halo: Reach could be better with those.

perks would turn it into "call of halo: futuristic warfare" imo.
