Hello, everyone.

I've been trying to get the Multiplayer map "Timberland" to load on Sapien. I've used HEK plus, and the scenario is now in the pop up box that appears when you double click on Sapien. When I try and run Timberland however, a few box's appear with words like "Hirachory View" and I have to use Task Manager to close. I check the debug, and here is the last paragraph.

10.01.09 15:47:29 sapien pc 01.00.00.0609 ----------------------------------------------
10.01.09 15:47:29 reference function: _write_to_error_file
10.01.09 15:47:29 reference address: 401b13
10.01.09 15:47:29 Couldn't read map file './sapienbeta.map'
10.01.09 15:47:29 CreateDevice succeeded with refresh rate = 0
10.01.09 15:47:30 Sound card doesn't meet minimum hardware requirements. Disabling hardware option.
10.01.09 15:47:30 Increasing sound decompression buffer size to 1048576 bytes
10.01.09 15:48:11 file_open('tags\levels\test\timberland\timberland.scenario_structure_bsp') error 0x00000002 'The system cannot find the file specified. '
10.01.09 15:48:11 couldn't open scenario_structure_bsp tag 'timberland.scenario_structure_bsp'.
10.01.09 15:48:11 failed to load structure bsp 'levels\test\timberland\timberland'

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sapien is running. You must wait for it to finish loading. It'll either automatically close itself, which is unlikely, as you've done everything correctly, or it'll open. Just wait. It might take anywhere from 1 - 5 minutes, depending on how fast your computer it is, and how big the scenario is.

Thank you for the reply! Unfortuantly, it still doesn't load. I think it may have something to do with compatibility, which I have changed because when I searched my problem, that was one of the posts. Currently the compatibility is as follows:

Compatibility Mode: Windows 95, and the Display Mode is "Display In 256 Colors"

Everything else is unticked.

So how would I go about fixing this? This is my first time using HEK.

your level bsp for Timberland is missing or somehow corrupted. Use HEK+ and open your timberland map. Then, rip everything from the map by selecting everything and dragging them to the extraction queue window. Start the extraction. Then try opening the scenario file again.

a note to vista users, please run the HEK+ as an admin before starting extraction. Otherwise odd stuff would happen.....

I did what you said, but Sapian was still unresponsive. Here is the new debug message.

Good. Now, there is nothing wrong with the scenario. Basically, all that you need to do is wait for 2 minutes or so and sapien should open. It is usually unresponsive during the opening of the .scenario file, so you will have to wait.

Hi, I waited and Sapien closed automaticlly. This is my new debug message.

10.02.09 10:49:06 sapien pc 01.00.00.0609 ----------------------------------------------

10.02.09 10:49:07 CreateDevice succeeded with refresh rate = 0
10.02.09 10:49:08 Sound card doesn't meet minimum hardware requirements. Disabling hardware option.
10.02.09 10:49:09 Increasing sound decompression buffer size to 1048576 bytes
10.02.09 10:50:09 file_open('tags\levels\test\timberland\timberland.scenario_structure_bsp') error 0x00000002 'The system cannot find the file specified. '
10.02.09 10:50:09 couldn't open scenario_structure_bsp tag 'timberland.scenario_structure_bsp'.
10.02.09 10:50:09 failed to load structure bsp 'levels\test\timberland\timberland'

EDIT: I run Sapian, and loaded Sidewinder. I waited a while, for Sapian to become responsive, and I haeard the sounds and ambiance of Sidewinder. However, I could not see the level at all. Does anyone have a reason to this? Thank you.

There is a white window blocking the game window, just drag it out of the way.

Thanks, it works now :D

I have another question. Every time I try to add a tag(In this case, a character) it says that it could not import one of the selected tags, and that I should contact the nearest Bungie programmer. Can I fix this?

did you download the tag from Halomaps?
in general, most of the downloadable tags on the halomaps website work if you read the readme.txt carefully, extract them to the correct location specified in the readme and you use guerrila to check for any "red highlighted stuff", that is, errors in the tag.
Most of the people who have their tags uploaded for other users to download usually assume that the other users have their halo ce and HEK installation folder path as "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition".
That means that if you installed your HEK and Halo in a different directory than the above, putting your downloaded tags in sapien would make it think that the relevant tags your downloaded tags require are non-existent, and as such return errors.
There are 2 ways to solve this.
1. Reinstall your Halo CE and HEK in the above provided directory path, or
2. use guerrila, and open EACH AND EVERY TAG referenced by your downloaded tags. Then, use guerrila and redirect the red highlighted stuff to their corresponding correct tags.

yes i know it is going to be troublesome, but these are the only fixes i can think of atm.
