THIS IS STILL BUGGY! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

If you haven't heard about it your late but sawnose delivers once again. This is mainly for 64 bit problems but here is the sauce and info:

THIS IS PC, NOT CE RIGHT NOW

Quote: Hi all,

Last night I decided to sit down and fix the problem where 64-bit machines with >4GB of RAM complained that you have 0 RAM. That was easy. Then when I tried to test the fix, I discovered the compat problem with the recent IE security fixes, and saw the threads here suggesting that people uninstall them.

That's no good, right?

So I put together a fix for that, too. I'd like you guys to try it out on your various systems and make sure that (a) it fixes those problems, if you had them , and (b) doesn't cause any new ones.

NOTE!!!!!!
This will *not* have any impact on gameplay. All the changes are finished happening before the MGS logo movie even plays! Every time there's a patch, there are always a few people whose internet connections happen to get flaky that day, and they assume there's a correlation. This patch won't change the game. It's your imagination. Really.

This patch is only for HaloPC, not for CE yet. If a little time passes and no one can convince me that the patch is buggy, I'll port the changes over to CE and release both.

This version will network with 1.08 in the same game, it doesn't break compat.

Try it out, reinstall your missing IE patches, and post your results here. If anyone is still running Win98SE (gasp!) let me know if it works as well as previous versions.

Thanks!

Basically, the RAM was only a cosmetic problem, it didn't matter for running it.

So basically, we don't even need it for CE, amirite

Well, the Topic made me excited. And the patch does not affect me much. Considering I have only 1gb of ram. (512mb last week, lol)

It's not really a 1.09 patch, since it doesn't update much in the game, but only fix one problem people were having. 1.08 is still the current version number, so don't go freaking out that you need to download this patch guys, mmmkay?

I do. this thing is buggy enough, they need to release more stuff for us 64 bit users (and not simple things like a number not being right.. thats kinda stupid to release a patch over something small like that when there is a continue anyways button next to it..)

It also fixes the internet explorer problem and fixes the new way to use halo loop that BMP showed us. So it's more then a 64-bit patch.

oh right so all of your friends that you gave a cracked copy to can play on 1.08 without worrying about cd key checking.

brilliant, thats all we need is a bunch of kiddies with stolen copies of halo crapping up 1.08.

please tell me you see how calling it 1.09 would be confusing to people

The beta says 1.08 so you can test it and report any problems with it. When it's done it'll be part of the auto update and will be 1.09.

You don't need to update until the final version is made this is just a test/beta patch.

It's not. When the beta is done being a beta everyone will download it. I don't get what's so hard to get about it. It's just like the 1.08 beta.

It fixes the IE 8 update bug. And that's happens on 32 bit computers as well. I didn't have any problems so I think it's a bug with the IE8 on XP.

It's part of Windows Update, so unless you don't automatically install updates or hid the update already it is a problem. I don't get what's wrong with another update. So far this game as had more support then H2V ever has.

Use the browser that you want, forcing one upon someone else is stupid. I have Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome, and I prefer Internet Explorer. Firefox is slow and the only reason I might use it for is spellcheck, and I'm not in desperate need of it.
