[lies]If I lost my secret pornz stash the world would end D:![/lies]All the porn I have is re-posted daily :\
Anyway, a system restore does sound the best way to fix it. If you are really worried about some file, just upload it to some file upload/download website. Edited by gruntfromhalo on Jul 3, 2009 at 09:58 AM

btw, don't do system restore if yr comp had virus previously, it would help to "restore" the virus and make matters worse. again, try this before doing system restore, because from experience, system restore sometimes screws you up even more... Quote: --- Original message by: sargejohnson
Think this method should help:
Update yr computer at windows update update yr halo with halo update update yr gfx card drivers scan yr comp for viruses and spyware use ccleaner (to clean up yr comp and registry) reboot
especially important is step 3 once, my halo kept on minimising when it started up, had to remaximise the window. did step 3, problem solved just an example Edited by sargejohnson on Jun 18, 2009 at 04:10 AM Quote: --- Original message by: Gamma927 System Restore won't touch any unimportant files, like your maps, music, or any pr0n. It only rolls back the system files to an older version. and your gfx drivers, updates and other stuff that would probably prevent problem like this from happening. Restoring corrupted files is basically rolling back a system file. If you have a system file that was corrupted, and you "roll it back", you're basically restoring it. It all depends on your terminology.

By system restore, I meant factory reset. I always get those two confused. Anyway, I think I may have found the problem. When I went into control panel and tried to open my Intel graphics settings, I got this:

Meaning your using a Crap Integrated GFX Card and you have a Virus. 2 Solutions.
1. Get a new GFX Card, if your Power supply has a 6pin connector 2. Get some good friggen anti-virus.

Christ, kids these days. I know my intel card is crap thank you, and replacing it is not an option, because it is integrated and cannot be replaced. As you should know. Even if I could replace it, I do not have a spare $100 lying around to buy a new card. And thank you for clarifying what "good friggen anti-virus" is, it helps a lot. I do not need your arrogant comments, I need a solution. Thank you for nothing. Quote: --- Original message by: Magnum Opus  And thank you for your useless post as well. If it is as you suggest, then it is most likely a virus slowly destroying my computer. I'll just find a way to back up my important files and do a factory reset. /thread

I have only avast, and windows firewall, I always turn off avast when I startup my computer, cause I hate it most of the time, and do a scan with it everyday though, it says I have a virus in my system 32 folder, everything works fine though, and it's been like that for a year :|. Lol, I have a compaq desktop PC and it works great :)

I think not, you sir, misunderstood.

All of them are free and do a wonderful job. Stay away from Norton or AVG. Whats wrong with AVG? Its Norton and Macfee you need to stay away from.

Thanks.
So yeah, I thought bumping this would be better than making a new thread.
I did a destructive system recovery, and I downloaded avast (which is way better than AVG). My programs are running smoothly, loading time for all applications has somewhat decreased, and my internet isn't crashing anymore.
But Halo still will not run.
I have no idea why, but when I try to run Halo or Halo CE, it goes to the loading screen, and it just stays there. The UI never loads, it just stays on the loading screen forever, until I restart the computer. Nothing works while it's doing this. Task manager won't open, and the game won't minimize either. I have to manually shut down my computer and restart it to get out of it. I can't figure out what's causing it, either.
Anyone have any suggestions?

No. The menu never loads. It stays on the loading screen until I shut my computer down. Yesterday I ran Halo, took a 2-hour nap, and when I woke up it was still on the loading screen.

I just installed CE yesterday.
But I will try the redownload thing as a last resort, because that will take forever. I have quite a few maps.

You don't need a new PC to run a new OS, however, with you're specs, vista will run, and windows 7 will run better (once it comes out) but a PC upgrade will be much bett. If you want, you can build you're own PC. Overall, it is cheaper in the long run. Especially if you go with AMD, same preformance as intel, just 800 bucks cheaper. Seriously, common sense people.
Also, it's not "you're", it's "your".
