i was just wondering can u make covenant limbs fly of when u shoot them?
I got the idea when i was playing Garrys mod with goremod on and then i thought "Hmm it would be lots of fun to blow off an elites head with a sniper riffle, Plus it would add realism to halo ce"
I THINK its posible because cmt made breakable armor for brutes so what if someone hides the head, arms and legs and replace them with breakable material and when you shoot them in those plases with enough bullets it will disappear and make the illusion u blew it of their body

Yeah, it's totally possible, it'd be just like the Flood Combat Forms. It's just a lot of work.

You'd have to make all the arms, head and whatever else you want destructable all seperate regions.

Speaking in terms of Halo's engine, its technically impossible for a bit of the covenant alien to blow off and kill the other part. In the case of Flood forms with destrcutable body bits, the destructable pieces of the body, when blown off, and no effect on the body health of the flood. So, if you created a Grunt which head could blow off, the Grunt would still continue walking, firing and talking when the head was blown off 0_o

uhh, can't you set the damage needed for the part to detach? In that case, make the damage needed the maximum vitality of the grunt, so that the head would only come off if you killed it with enough force. Of course, you would end up seeing the head flying off when you stick it, run it over, or melee it also.

You assassinate a grunt and their head rolls off backwards. But I don't thing any of those would happen, only if you meleed it, splattered it, or stuck it on the head.

As for what I did in the UT2k4, I didn't make any body parts detachable. I added a Body Depleted effect that threw out a few red-tinted Flood garbage tags to emulate gibs. There's a Body Destroyed effect that makes the body disappear with an effect after it's taken a certain amount of damage and you could emulate gibs that way, but it causes exceptions like nothing else.
I'm not sure how you'd go about making heads disappear with a headshot or any of that, but if you can do it with the flood I'm sure you can do it with Elites or Grunts. Edited by Marka Haiyana on May 9, 2009 at 07:05 PM
