My new map 'Weapons Training' with my new vehicle ai bipeds has been posted and a special thanks to all you here who helped me complete it.

It is a fast paced multiplayer action map that has one bashee ai, one wraith ai, one grunt specops mortar ai, one grunt specops fuelrod ai, one jackle ai, and one sentenal major ai. All there to increase the action!!!And believe me they're tenacious. the map contains almost every kind of weapon and a few custom weapons that i rigged.

ABOUT: This map is designed for both single player training and multiplayer war. It works for all game types and conditions. It contains many interesting features including my own created banshee ai which is a new type of vehicle biped and actor variant that i constructed. The wraith ai is also a new vehcle biped and actor variant that i have been working on for a while. The cool thing about these two vehicles is that they attack you and pursue you without any driver. Cool huh!! like terminator or something! Both of these cool ai vehicals are able to be destroyed. The map contains all the defalt vehicles, except the warthog; which i replaced with a sentinal vehicle. I also used light rings and single light beacons to indicate teleport entances so anywhere you see a beacon ring or single beacon, whether it is red or blue, it is a teleport entance. The map contains two cool scenery creations. One is a log cabin that i constucted out of the leafy-tree-log scenery(that took a long time making piece by piece) and it is sort of a armory and the cabin has a log watch tower built on top that is only accessable by telleport. The other cool scenery construction is a cave made out of boulders the is sorta for a hide out and defenseive position. I have also included the halo 3 buble shield grenade in this map and it is good to note that one should always crouch when he throws one at his feet. This action increases the odds of not getting thrown out of the bubble shield.

Recommendation: this map can be played with any amout of players and in any game mode.

The tags i have used in this map and there authors include the following:

Maybe he wants crit. The best crit I can give you is DO NOT MOD BLOODGULCH. A simple box map would almost be better. Bloodgulch is WAY overused for mods. Go mod another one, like Danger Canyon, that's what I used.

Seems like posting info about your new map can be like jumping in a pond full of Aligators! Modders seem timid to use anything but the tried and true like Bloodgulch. I have used the very popular like Extinction and Coldsnap, but also the less popular Adolphatobia because the map suited the layout that I had envisioned. There is nothing wrong using both types of maps...popular, tried and true maps, or good maps, but not so popular.

I'll be sure to download your new map tonight !

I have to disagree that Blood Gulch is a "tried and true" map. Sure, it's been tried a lot, but out of the thousands of games that you've played on it, how many have been memorable?

I didn't say memorable (though I remember some pretty funny moments); however, your statement: "Sure, it's been tried a lot, but out of the thousands of games that you've played on it...", pretty much defines "tried and true"!

k.....you made a topic just to show off a new mod that anyone could do in half an hour? Why don't you just get your AI into vehicles? Empty vehicles chasing you looks kinda weird.....

Most of the tags aren't even yours 0_o

well, not to be rude or anything, but these are the most popular tags and they appear in almost every map. So, i am not the only one using other peoples tags. Besides i am new.

also, i still can't get the ai to get in my vehicals. They just walk off and go searching instead of getting in the vehical and going searching???

This should count as your first map, even if it isn't.

I loved this quote (from the Modacity topic)

Quote:
Poor Dennis at www.halomaps.org has to pay out of his pockey to host your first maps, make them count! So, before you go posting anything other than comments in that release forum, or run off uploading something to halomaps, consider what I've said and ask the question "is my map worthy?" This isn't a rule, just some honest advice I would like to give from observations I've made.

Makes me think differently.

I agree with that quote. If Dennis could I would have asked him to remove my first 2 maps. It's up to him though, if I hosted a website I would only choose the ones that have potential. If it's a crappy map with extruded cliffs, a box in the middle, textures that don't match, and loaded with scenery or a mod I wouldn't upload it. I guess that's the difference between Dennis and I. Of course I'm cheap so I wouldn't host millions of maps like Dennis unless they were all good ones.

Dennis actually does both in a way: he hosts all maps, but he selects only maps that are good in his opinion as Featured Maps. The only problem is that they're only featured for so long. There should be a note somewhere on every map that was once featured, but that's just my opinion.

i have nothing against people that learn a different way. but uploading a mod as common as this, seems kind of lazy. sure you can not make something completely original, but not giving your best effort, is as bad as not trying at all. i know for sure that this is not your best effort. it is your first accomplishment, and you have the right to feel proud. but when you release something it should be ready. and truthfully this wasn't ready. so please, next time ask for help before you release a piece of work. and i suggest, that if mods are your preference, you work more towards making a worthy mod; perhaps on a map that no one tried before. if you look well enough you are bound to find a map that has been overlooked. i hope you dont take this criticism as insulting.

I am glad to see new members of this community take such an interest in this wonderful game. It does not matter what kind of map you made or what is in the map you made it is that people play it and have fun in doing so. Good Job!

... You know, the only thing I hate about the internet?

When I end up relying on UrbanDictionary to figure out what someone's saying.

Acronyms used to be fun, but now they annoy the hell out of me because I never understand someone's posts...

... but on-topic: ditto.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you on that. It's the good maps that are so popular. If you eliminated the mods and crappy made maps it wouldn't effect Halo CE at all. Look at all the servers that are being played. Those are all good maps.

Well it's all based off of personal opinion of a map which is why Dennis is a good host. He doesn't judge a map or mod. He doesn't discriminate.

We host all CE maps that pass the technical test because your opinion on what a good map should be is no more important than the person who uploaded his "bloodgulch mod" or "Box map".

You can rate each map/file on a scale of 1-10 and you can sort the lists by downloads and ratings to find the maps you like. We now host litterally thousands of screenshots and each map page also displays a list of other maps that others who have rated that map have rated highly. I have added alot of functions to allow you to make up your own mind about what you like. However, every discussion I see about what maps should or should not be hosted all come down to somebody else (me) making up your mind for you and telling you what maps you should like.

My only editorial comment is the featured maps section where I post maps that I think (in my opinion) are interesting.

Make up your own mind, I have given you enough tools to do so and since we host all CE maps (stuff) there is enough to choose from and not leave anyone out. I would rather have people complain that they can't choose than not have anything to choose from.
