Hi, and sorry if this has already been brought up, I'm new to the forums. I was wondering about the secret rooms on Coldsnap. I know about the one in the blue base. I've heard about some other rooms that you need passwords for and contain secret custom weaponss (Ex. Shiva Nades.) I was wondering if this was hype or truth, and if it was truth, where to find it.

It's been a year or two since I played coldsnap, but the only egg I could find was at the bottom of the flag pit.

The only real things that Tiamat meant for players to find were the decals of some images, including his sig. I know there's one in the red base flag pit, and one in the blue base biped room, but there's others in the cliffs somewhere.

Other than that, nothing else. Definitely no custom weapons, and no passwords. Those are all rumors.

Everything that you think is a secret was for scripting purposes. The 4 bipeds on the map are actually there for checking the current running game type so that the scripts could change the map's scenery based on that. They're named "ctf, slayer, race, oddball". The one in the blue base room was the "oddball" one. The other three are on the floor of the death pit under the map.

He placed an assault rifle that self-detonates under each biped, and the assault rifle only spawns in the same game type that the biped is checking for (except for king of the hill in addition to slayer for the "slayer" biped).

So, if it's CTF, only the assault rifle under the "ctf" biped spawns. Then, the assault rifle detonates, which kills the "ctf" biped, and there you go, the script knows it's CTF. Pretty ingenious to come up with, but so simple once you figure it out.

I just spent weeks modding the map, and found no tags for anything like a shiva-nade. I turned on a couple of holocontrols that say "Tiamat is Lazy"! Find these in both the red and blue bases on Coldsnapwar.

As mentioned above, there are four bipeds: oddball scyborg (in a room directly under the Mythos), a slayer scyborg, a ctf scyborg and a race scyborg.

There's also a Chinese orange sort of dragon, hidden in some random cliffs.

ive ripped the secnario and here is what ive seen
-in blue base there is a biped used for syncing certain objects(halo's networking abitys are less than preferable thats the reason you never see any maps with switches to activate things)

-there are also 2 more bipeds at the bottum of the map used for the same porpose

- no secret hidden weapons

- in blue base the biped room has tiamat's signature in it

thats about it

Off Topic: How is it that you rip a scenario what tools do you need and where do you get them?
ON Topic: I have seen the orange dragon in some hills to the left of the red base I think.

What do you mean? I've never noticed scenery changing on the map. Why do the scripts need to know what gametype it is, and what are they for?

But in Coldsnap, can you name any noticable changes?

Well I know in Race there are extra scenery objects such as ramps leading across the gaps in the ground and other ramps leading to the tunnel that goes inside the cliffs to make driving easier.

So you could, in theory, get gametype-specific scenery to spawn by fooling the game and killing one of the bipeds yourself? (Assuming that those exploding ARs don't blow up right as the game starts.)

Can you spawn them with a dev command?

I know what the script does and how it checks, but I'm not sure when exactly it checks for the game type. I've joined games and checked for the health of these bipeds before, and all of them were destroyed (as in non-existent). My guess is there's a waiting period to wait for one of the bipeds to be killed when the game starts (joining a server starts the game for your client although the server may started the game before you joined) and then once one is killed, the game type is known and the bipeds are destroyed for safety.

So yeah, in theory you could kill one of the bipeds and fool your game into thinking it's a different game type. But only in theory. You'd have to do it a split second after starting a game. And even then, it would only affect you, not other players, because they all have their own instance of the bipeds that will correctly check the game type.

They have to have names in order to be referred to in a script, so yep. You can rip coldnap and check for the object names in Sapien easily.

I don't know how to rip, lol. If you do spawn them, can you change the gametype for yourself? If so, what will happen after you achieve the alternate gametype, or try to, exception?

Since when did scripts determine player spawn points?

Not player spawns, spawning the biped via Devmode. And about the split-second thing, couldn't you use the Devtrainer by Paulus with the Time Freeze to stop time, get yourself to the biped before it blows up, somehow remove the biped or the AR, and NOT have the scripts go into effect?
