Sick. We can now use brushes and stuff in 3ds. No more wasting time in Photoshop hopefully (I have elements).

3Ds max has sculpting in it already anyways. The push pull painting.

Not just that, but the UI is looking more and more like it too. It's a good idea what they're doing, but it just makes us farther and farther away from learning about max.

Maybe we don't see it yet, but maybe this will make it easier to use. Although I highly doubt that.

Well. No need for Zbrush now :D I guess I can uninstall that :l

Pretty cool. But pretty goofy way of modeling than what I'm used to. The layout will also probably take a while to get used to.

It will make it easier, and more intuitive! It just might add to the learning curve. The good thing is most of you already understand how to use the program and don't worry bout UI that's all changeable (just like it is now!) I'm excited to see this new stuff, it's about time Max got a 'real' update other 3D programs have had these tools for awhile.

Not so, ZBrush and Max are two completely different programs. No matter how good the sculpting is in Max it's not made for sculpting so for the time being learn ZBrush.

Just to say, that doesn't mean anything. Look at the new 2010 Chevy Camaro; It's just now '09, and this car isn't even out yet, but it's a '10 model.

But still; I find the naming method kind of pointless...

Why couldn't they have named 2008 "10", and '09 "11"? They had 1-9, then suddenly started using years. They're pulling an Adobe [which went from "Macromedia Flash 8" to "Adobe Flash CS3"], and it's stupid, imo. They should have stuck with the original naming pattern.

You do know that Macromedia was a different company right? It was acquired by Adobe in 2005, and the reason they are changing the name is because when you get to number like 'Max 32' it's sort of ridiculous!

Also I'm not sure whether it's '09 or '10 but Max and Cad are supposed to be getting an over-haul.

Yes, I know Macromedia was a different company. But did you know that 3DS Max 4-7 were made by Discreet, then Autodesk bought them out to make 8 and 9? Why couldn't Adobe have done the same with Flash?

That's my point, really...

And '09 is already out, so it'll probably be Max '10. [And that's why it gets confusing, since technically speaking, Max '09 was the 10th version.]

Adobe did it the way they did is because they made a 'Creative Suite' (CS). Flash became part of it so they changed the name to CS, CS2, CS3, and now CS4. But like I said it gets sort of ridiculous when you get into 'Max 32', Autodesk probably didn't want the double digits and they are overhauling Max and CAD saw this as an opportunity to use a new naming convention.

Um...because would you rather buy something called "Adobe Photoshop Cs3" OR something called "Adobe Photoshop 17". Really now. They do it so the name wont get as repetative.

Had to bump this. There is a new feature called xview. Now you can fix errors before it goes into halo CE!

:D I might get this, but someone else will have to test out all the maxscripts for halo to see if they work, otherwise, I'll stick with max 9.

The color scheme is, and always has been customizable. You can make the entire thing Hot pink if you feel like it. Personally I prefer the default light grey, it keeps thing simple to me.
