Quote: --- Original message by: MF Boom Oh, I agree, there really is a lot you can do in Foundry. I just agree with others when Sandbox really does take it to the next level.
Foundry, you're limited to a certain size, and certain capabilities. Sandbox added in three levels, so you're less limited in that aspect. You won't use up all your boxes & fence boxes, etc, just to make Foundry into a box without the open bases in the way; you already have the preset box in The Crypt... You can now make a floating level in the Sky Bubble, which is a pretty new addition to Forge; the likes of which none of us have gotten to do before, especially not this easily...
Foundry is still a wonderful level. I don't expect Sandbox to replace it... But it is the next-gen Forge map, in my eyes.
And, while I don't doubt your creativity with Foundry; I believe you'll have even more ideas for Sandbox, and I, for one, look forward to seeing what all people can come up with for that map... I agree with that whole post. Quote: --- Original message by: XimwatchingyouX That picture made me go "XD"!!!
And to the one who is asking what you can and cannot do in Foundry, how about creating a Kill Ball? I think that'll settle you're argument of what you can and can't do.
PS: Oh, and FALL to your death. You can fall to your death. Just go outside the level and go out too far... Why would you want killballs in a map like Foundry? Also, Snadbox, really? Well, I would recommend you post logic. More posts like that, and no one will understand you. Edited by Dragonmaster91 on Feb 17, 2009 at 12:20 PM

I'm saying Bungie has gone too far once they added the golf club as a usable object. I think Bungie should just make maps and that be it. Of course I'm not the type that can run around in forge for hours. I just play Matchmaking. The only reason Bungie is adding things like that is because Halo 3 is becoming old and they need to spice it up to keep it alive.

Why should I respect people who I have no reason to respect? You're being illogical. I have never met Nexus except for this occasion, where he's denouncing a map made for forging for being too centered around forge.
Edit: I'm not saying that they should all go away, I'm just saying they should consider what they're saying first. Edited by Zetal on Feb 17, 2009 at 05:14 PM

Sigh. Here we go again....>> When Nexus says that Bungie has 'gone too far' I entirely agree, but not because of their including a golf club...but ehm, we'd disagree on that too so I'll just get to the point. When he says that, he insinuates, purposely or not, that Sandbox is basically a useless tool, which was reinforced when he said that Bungie should simply 'make maps and that be it'.
Are we done..? I like the community here, and as such I'll apologize for insulting Nexus, I guess. I'll withdraw from this topic.
Edit: I hope this won't affect your choice in answering my questions in the Technical section... =(

Edited by Zetal on Feb 17, 2009 at 05:17 PM He isn't "insinuating" that Sandbox is an useless tool. How does saying that including a golf club is going to far "insinuate" that Sandbox is an useless tool? It's merely an OPINION that adding a golf club into a game where you're supposed to blow other people up takes it too far. That means that YOU are "insinuating" that people can't express their opinion openly. By the way, you haven't apologized yet :P

But without the gravity I believe. The golfball replaces the soccer ball. The golf hole goes over the hole to the crypt. The only exceptions are, the golf ball is bigger than the soccer ball, and hopefully, if the club has no gravity effect like the gravity hammer did, it's either a stronger melee, or the golf ball is very easy to move; the soccer ball didn't move a great amount even when hit with the actual gravity hammer, thus, this would make "golf" games very boring if it was weaker than that... It's good for kicks; though that pun would have fit better with the soccer ball. Edit: I hope this won't affect your choice in answering my questions in the Technical section... =( Edited by Zetal on Feb 17, 2009 at 05:20 PM Zetal, having the fact you added me on MSN, and seemed like a very responsible person, I am just a little bit disappointed that within less than a month of being here, you've found a way to, albeit unintentionally, spark a pretty massive argument with a few users here. But, it does take some time getting used to the community here, as it would anywhere. The users vary from all ages, from various countries and states, and all have their own attitudes and mindsets. Everyone has their own opinions; and a majority of humanity feels that if someone else states their opinion in words that could even /slightly/ implicate a superiority complex, they can't help but naturally arguing their point. Rather than trying to explain someone else's remarks, or refute someone's claims, simply acknowledge that you agree to disagree, and leave it at that. It's logically impossible to convince someone else to adopt your theory on something; this is what makes most people find conversation difficult, when you find things you differ in opinion on. Numerous people have stated in this topic that they find Sandbox to be pathetic; while others have stated extreme excitement in the upcoming map. While I strongly disagree with people's claims that Bungie has gone too far, regardless of what reason, I understand their reason for believing so. It's only an opinion... In my eyes, although I've already stated it, I'll take it just a little bit further: Sandbox is an entire embodiment of what Forge is made for. Not only modding a map, and changing around a little bit, but being able to create something entirely original, from a clean slate. Be it suspended in mid-air, or buried several feet underground in a cellar-like structure; or even simply in the middle of a desolate flatland surrounded by sand, -- despite the odd fact that sand implies it's a desert; so why is just one square perfectly flat and consisting of stone? -- you're allowed to create something all of your own. With all the pieces, not only of simple ramps and platforms, but more complex tubes and internal hallways, much like we had with the "Open Box", just even more advanced than previously imagined. The addition of immature and childish little toys like the golf ball and golf club were for the people who find entertainment in the simple things, in playing Halo in a way that extends it past an ordinary FPS game. Sandbox was basically meant to take /every/ player's creativity, and allow them to be the artist; with a map that's somewhat like blank sheet of paper for you to work with. I personally intend on making a hovering map, just a simple round platform, give everyone gravity hammers, lower gravity just a little bit, and raise the speed to maybe 125% at most. Everyone has one life... To win? ... Don't get knocked off. Similar to "Joust" type games; while simple, when you're tired of the repetitive shoot/kill or be shot/killed, it can provide even the slightest of entertainment to those who are tired of the mediocre, and want something new. After seeing what people can do in Foundry I can only wonder. Thanks again guys. Agreed, and... It's going to be insane. People have created the most impossible things not only in Foundry, but think about maps like the remake of that one SSB (Super Smash Bros.) map. People are capable of creating entirely floating platforms /without/ the Sky Bubble, so having that there makes it even more ridiculous. Not to mention my personal favorite forged map, "Floaty Pit" [look it up on Bungie.net; it's a blast when you're really bored]... I just wonder how people are going to add things like the Man Cannon and Grav Lift into these layers... We can only predict that somewhere along the line, there's going to be some chaos... And it is going to be fun. Lots... and lots... of fun. ... I think Bungie needs to add a gas-powered internet-enabled blowdryer. And a nuclear-powered SMS-enabled bowling ball. ... Wait, that was Andy. Oh, I know! The iPlunger. :3
