I have decided to make my own modded campaign. (it won't be for a while) In halo 2 when the elites got betrayed the hunter helped you out in combat, however in halo 3 they were against you again. My question is in my modded campaign should the hunters be on your side or should they side with the brutes?

i would like to see hunters with more strategic placment. they just ran at you and got slaughtered in halo 1. i would like to see them hang back and fire down at you, or at least be smarter than "RUNNNNNNIIIIINNNNNGGGG" *melee distance reached* "HUR DURF. i missed. HUUUUUUUUUURRR DURF. missed again. ow that prick is shooting me in the back." *dead* also maybe a different firing mode? like a faster plasma bolt with explosive being a secondary

Not a bad idea. I agree there. Hunters really do seem kinda stupid if your not a noob lol. I'm not sure whether I want hunters for both sides or just one side. If I have hunters on both sides then it would be hilarious to see them fight. Plus the weaker links on both sides will die really fast and it basically becomes hunter vs. hunter. If I have hunters only on your side I'd have to find some way to balance the ai out. If I have hunters on only the covenant well then we're right back where we started and it doesn't make gameplay any more interesting then halo 1s campaign. I'll have to think about it.

I'll have to think about it. the funny thing is, if the grunts know how to move, they can take out the hunter. it really depends how they fan out. also, i think ai usually attack who is attacking them, so it would be hunter vs hunter while all of the grunts hide behind their respective tanks with legs

you could place some ai on one team in sapien and a hunter pair on another and watch it all play out in sapien. its really interesting

now try setting the grunt's leader to the hunter. like, so the grunts move according to the hunter. have the grunts flank the sides and the hunter fire down the middle. you could also put plasma rifle wielding grunts behind the hunter for support, or a jackal in front of him.
if you added a banshee with midair move positions you could make one hell of a stronghold

but now lets mix it up and give the marines the high ground with rocks for support. make sure they stay behind the rocks at all times, or at least make sure if they must venture out from behind cover, it doesnt happen often. giving them standard assault rifles and shotguns, maybe a plasma rifle or two will make a hude difference. give them the ability to throw grenades and its all over lol
but yeah, just a few marines in a fortified position can hold off a massive army. you dont have to try anything huge scale yet, just some 4 on 4 encounters or something of the type to test my theory

nice ideas. I think I'm gonna try some of those. Yeah I still remember when I was a noob and I had to start a level all over again because I sucked at killing hunters and I let all my marines die. lol I think that might have been the day I got Halo.

im sure you have figured this out, but the orange part of their bodies are considered head. any headshot capable weapon will be a one shot kill on this spot. pistol or sniper in the collision tag for the hunter, go down to materials, and find "skin". uncheck the box that says "head" and this one shot kill nonsense will no longer happen
