So, I'm working on a total crysis conversion for a few days now, I got the technical concepts done and rigged the nanosuit, but then i hear that there is some rule by microsoft or so that only halo mods may be made? the metroid mods kept their profile low as a metroid mod wasn't totally legal, but i'm not sure, so before i go on converting things to halo, is this legal? and how far can i go?

sorry I have been away for a few days, and will be again i think.

I've heard from a friend that there was some rule that only halo content was legal to make for halo, his proof was that the zelda and metroid are keeping their profile low to not get caught, that's what he said.

Also yes I'm making a total crysis conversion for halo, i'll run into some problems with all the nanosuit functions putting hotkeys or so, but for starters I'm busy with rigging the nanosuit from Crysis Warhead and putting it into Halo, aswell as the first person arms, the flashlight will be replaced with the cloak (cus the flashlight has an equal suit power function), and i've already rigged all crysis sounds, so when you pick up a overshield it'll say 'maximum. armor." and so forth, i did use the male sounds as they sound cooler then the female suit voice =P
the UI will be made this weekend, flyover through a jungle and some beach, with crysis warhead main menu music, i'll look into that thing to remove the update part of the menu, like some UI's have

in a nutshell, i'll work on it, as always, see when i go too far or get something from crytek, better not be a cease letter lol

Well, those maps aren't keeping a "low profile", they are just not played that much. As long as you make something it doesn't matter. I think if you rip content there's a problem but nobody cares. Nobody has gotten a threat from any company about legal issues. I think you should use the female voice. It's like a sausage fest in Halo.

ya you could probably use the models in halo to do other things and that's technically illegal but if your not making a profit off it, bungie/microsoft/gearbox wouldn't care because i'd cost them more time and money then i'd be worth. i wouldn't worry about it, just go for it.

side question, how much poly's max?i guess alot of detaills will go into the texture

when i even look at it (imported into Gmod 10) i lag lol, so i guess i'll have to let it reduce alot

wow, nice. and high polly to the max. you'll definitely need to decimate it. i think 3ds has a tool for that.
