Wow. This is a video that needs to be seen by all halo fans. Almost all the possible concept art and all the content and assets have been split into all the halo games. Why did bungie cut out so much from halo 1?!

Microsoft gave Bungie a 5 month deadline RIGHT as they bought them.
The dialog was recorded and was just barely beginning to go ingame, along with a number of other things, such as a flamethrower and fuel rod gun.
If I remember right, according to Bungie's cutscene commentary, the campaign was supposed to be cut up into 4 parts.
The first part was the introduction. This consisted of 5 levels, A10, A20, A30, A40, and A50. The second was the fight against the Covenant: B10, B20, B30, B40, and B50. The third was the introduction of the Flood and the fight against them: C10, C20, C30, C40, and C50. The final stretch was destroying Halo, D10, D20, D30, D40, and D50.
Only half of these levels got ingame. They told the basic story, but not nearly in as much detail as Bungie wanted. Some of the levels were merged (For instance, the second level, "Halo" was combined with what would have been the third level), most of the levels were scrapped, and that is why Halo's campaign numbering system is... off. Two Betrayals was supposed to use a brand-new BSP, but, because of Microsoft's time constraints, Bungie had to use Assault on the Control Room's BSP.
Anything which was not close to completion was scrapped completely, including the animals roaming Halo's surface. Bungie went into overdrive making what they had gotten done WORK without the rest, adding new dialog and changing much of the story itself, making the short level "The Library" into one of the longest and hardest missions of the game.
The result is the Halo 1 we know today. The multiplayer maps were thrown together in the very last week of development, hence why some of the levels are not of the best quality, BSP-wise.

Halo 2 had the same problem. It used to have an ending, and the big finale used to be MC against the Covenant on Earth, making most of the game on Earth itself, as promised. Only half of the story got told before Bungie hit the deadline set by Microsoft. Bungie literally cut the game in half, resulting in one of the world's worst endings and cutting out most of the Earth levels.

Halo 3 began as finishing the other half of Halo 2. However, this was scrapped and Bungie started from scratch again to keep up to date with next-gen technology. A new story was crafted to try to make up for Halo 2, and the result, with no deadlines, was much better than the older games.

Halo, being that long, and having the things in that trailer, would of been amazing.

mind u; not everything was microsoft's fault. for example the dinosaurs - from what i read someone addressed an interesting point:
If the flood was such a threat and so virulent, why would there be actual life on the rings? wouldnt the flood have converted them for much needed biomass / etc?

It was cut from Halo 1 and used in the next game. Also the part at 7:43 was pretty awesome.

In Pipe Dreams, theres a vehicle that is somewhat similar to that red vehicle.

Also its called a Shadow, the Pre Halo version, they introduced it into Halo 2 with a different model and texture. But same basic weapon and position.

i just find it strange, if halo was left for like eternity, wouldn't every square inch of land have plants and the ring being over populated and most of the place being errored ect ect?
eh you don't see all this on earth, carry on

Earth has had life for billions of years, it isn't overpopulated.

Edit:
sorry, just got what the bold meant.

Funny how you seem to know this, when it hasn't even been released yet.

The only reason people say it sucks is because it's not a FPS. They are so strong minded that they think if Halo isn't a FPS it's won't be a good game. I don't normally play RTS games but Halo wars will be one I'm going to play.

The only issue I have is no PC release. Oh well, I'm sure they'll do fine...

Like tomers said, the Flood wasn't actively roaming Alpha Halo (Installation 04). They we're locked up until the Covenant accidentally let them out. However, the Flood on Delta Halo (Installation 05) we're already let loose somehow and already had formed a Gravemind.

Anyways, the area inside that forerunner facility in the video looks like it would've been pretty scary if that's where you first encountered the Flood, with all the dark areas and flickering lights.

Actually, I believe the flood was behind a flood/sentinel wall. Where they were contained inside the foretress. But if you recall, you go in there as the Arbiter to retrieve the "icon". That is when the covenant, I believe, once again releases the flood for spiritual purposes.

The dinos would have been fine untill the covies dug out the flood.

Well i dont know about that guys; just remember that it was said by one of the more knowledgable members of bungie. So perhaps he knows something that we do not.
