I have been working on a new map, went to compile and then run in halo ce, but it kept bombing halo ce with an exception. I could not work out why it was failing because I have been through everything.

I thought if I started the map from scratch I could work through, compiling as I go to find out what was causing the exception.

I started a new map from scratch - kept it ultra simple - made a really simple box map. I can open it in Sapien, so I placed some player starts, then compiled it.

When I load the ultra simple map in halo ce - it bombs!

Gathering Exception. I'm stuck. I have no idea why it isn't working. It should - all the essentials are present, but it just refuses to work.

Please help!

Forgot netgame flags probably. Try starting it on slayer.

I always test new maps in slayer mode.

Still no joy.

Ok, I now have a working map!

I did two things...

First, I resized a bitmap image to half it's original size, was 512x512 now 256x256, but somehow I don't think this is the reason. Perhaps the image was corrupted in some way and because I used tool to redo the bitmaps, it fixed the corruption. I don't know.

Second, I used bluestreak to export the JMS instead of Bltzkrieg.

Something changed. I have no idea why it now works, but at least I can continue with my map.

Perhaps someone can explain what went right?


Ok, back to square one again - gathering exception. Scratching head.

Not image size. Bluestreak JMS export worked, but just the once. Added 4 hogs.

Stuck!

Nothing is wrong with using a larger bitmap, or using bluestreak to export bsps

did u make it a multiplayer scenario coz when u make the model to a scenario with tool it makes a new empty scenario but sets it to mulitplayer. open the scenario in guerilla and at the top it should says what type it is. for all you know the map didnt have a corrupt file or something but what you were trying to do is open a single player map as a multiplayer map! =3
