Alright, after I release the Community Mod , I will have another SP project I'll be working on. Unlike the mod, this one uses maps from the community and isn't a standard Halo SP mod. I so far am using Observatory and Portent, however, I want to feature more than two maps, especially considering Observatory isn't that large and that Portent doesn't have that many places to make transitions outside of the building before the place starts lagging up because of AI. So what I need is some suggestions of maps with the following features:
- Creative environment that could suit an SP level.
- Plenty of turns and areas where transitions can be made to spawn AI before you see them.
- And some places where transitions to other levels can be made, mainly with dead ends.
- The map has to be fairly large.

Thanks for any suggestions. I just want this sorted so I don't have to worry about it later.

suggestion: nix the standard assault rifle, or replace it with a halo 3 style one, the add a light machine gun weapon that uses most of the standard assault rifle's specs, except the bullets do like... 6-8 damage instead of 10. like an m249 or detachable turret (vehicle function causes damage effect which breaks mounted turret. destroyed effect spawns portable turret .weapon :D)

Thnx Donut, but I'm really looking for maps right now. I may try that for the community mod though. Also, I added Solitude.

idea: use seclusion for like, a boss battle or something. it didnt have good MP gameplay but who knows what kind of SP potential it has
also, no remorse could be used with a squad of marines like a city raid

Yeah, I think No Remorse is a good idea. What would a good boss battle be though? Should I stage it like the end of the first part of a50?

No, yoyorast has too many confusing areas and liabilities to be a good SP map. Falling in the water would be annoying and objectives would be weird.

Just protect a transportation run, not that hard, edit the bsp to duh.

what else would be a good map to do a transport run? or covenant transport attack?

Plenty. But I'll have develop a plotline later. Yoyorast is just too confusing for SP modification.

not knockng you, incase you never actually did it, but importing a bsp to edit involves a ton of problems. you would be much better off just plugging it up with some railing scenery

Peril is too flat to use. The levels also have to be big enough to serve a purpose and multiple other features. I also don't think Peril would really have an SP value to it.

*Cliffhangar, Frost, Fissure Fall, and Autumn Slay are all being investigated for the SP. Fissure Falls most likely will stay along with Autumn Slay. Frost and Cliffhangar are still under review.

I thought about Abyss. I'll see if it'll work. As for the second map, LOL, I think it'd be hilarious, but the problem isn't solved regardless.

*Quagmire and Abyss are under review for the SP.

I'll look into adding wartorn cove to see for the SP.

The following maps have been added:
-Hydro Generators
-Immure2
-Highlow
-Solitude
-Seclusion

The following maps are under standard review:
-Abyss
-Cliffhangar_Final
-Autumn Slay
-Frost
-Quagmire
-Concat
-No Remorse

The following maps are under extreme review:
-Desert B18 (because is freaking huge, but drastic objectives can make the space seem less large)
-Highlands (because the level is so short and not many things can be accomplished that would be considered fun, yet it has an interesting layout)
-Covie Cruiser (because it has preset music and interesting atmosphere, more of a storyline level. Under extreme review for lagging and confusing areas)
-Covenant (because it has preset music and interesting atmosphere, more of a storyline level. Under extreme review for lagging in some areas and needs in-depth ideas for objectives)

Levels that will definitely be in (unless lag prevails):
-Observatory
-Portent
-Labs
-Solitude
-Seclusion

All under review levels have a chance to make it in. Extreme review levels are still a step behind and need to be talked over before final decisions are made.

*Note: Any map can be turned down if it is protected. No freakishly large maps will make it in the SP. RPG Beta is one of these maps unless I find it better otherwise.

hmm I wonder how your gonna set seclusion for SP design since its such a small map wait a sec if you can do that then cant you do a map like insomnia or sciophobia? I would be happy if you were to create some sort of level that combines or connnects these maps to make a bigger map for SP so it could be more qualifying

I've already figured out what I'll do for connecting the maps. It's a similar method to that of how The Floods worked, except it is tied in with the story to make it interesting and clear.

*Immure 2 is being replaced by Immure due to protected items.

The layout configuration of Seclusion is done; I just need to add AI and other technical stuff and it will be done. I'll let everyone know what is done and what isn't, but considering this is the project AFTER the Community Mod, it'll all wait.

Suggestions/Ideas: Use Sciophobia for a PoA styled part. Dont think your cool and use Halo 3 weapons - They are overused and old. Use something custom.

I'll use what weapons I see fit. Sciophobia will be a storyline level, now that you've mentioned the idea for using it. You'll understand more later, when I give more details.

Ah crap you're right. Dang it DZ, I used that forum for my mod. =/
The mod is still in progress, but I was just getting ahead of myself and making the next project a bit more organized. The mod has varied amounts of time for it being done. A lot of levels are interdependent. If I can be satisfied with an AR, then the mod will be that much closer to completion. In fact, all I'm really doing now is fixing up some tags and testing levels. It should be done soon.

*I have Parts 1 and 2 of Project 2 organized. Now just for Parts 3 and 4 and I'll work on the Community Mod again.

Falling off is usually due to lag, or rockets exploding near you. Or just complete carelessness...

I think it would be fun for a single player map.

I remember that Floods map. For some reason, after the part in Chill Out, it would go to the campaign...

I'll see what I can do. Keep in mind, if I load certain areas with too many AI, then the game will go crazily laggy, so proper spawning trigger volumes are needed. I just don't have any places for Yoyorast really.

*I need suggestions of good swampy, indoor maps, that give the Flood feel.

I was bummed when I saw it protected too. I hate it when people do that for maps with no custom content, but it's their choice as the mappers.
