What do you think are the greatest Single Player maps of all time? Not counting modifications of existing levels like a50 or b40. A completely custom map, though it can be based in an existing multiplayer map (like Beaver Creek or Danger Canyon).

1. GHP Dangercanyon 4
http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=3510

The greatest SP level ever. New character models, H2 and 3 style weapons, and great music and cinematics. The only thing I have to say is that they could have created a custom BSP to make it greater, not use Danger Canyon.

This level has nice cinematics and custom weapons and bipeds. This has been worked on a lot by a lot of people, apparently, and here is the result: In my opinion, this is the greatest SP level of all time!

2. Coluseum II
http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=3333
Lots of Custom items, and a great, enormous BSP.

You play as a Halo 3 Master Chief whose Pelican crashes into this huge arena. Many surprising plot twists and secrets. This is the only Single Player map which I can say has an actual plot and interesting story. The only thing I have to say against the map is that there are far too many Elite commanders, and it is hard to complete without cheats.

3. Cleanup

Original style, great ideas and BSP. Its a long level with moderate difficulty, unlike some other maps which you'll get killed 100 times before completing one stage.

You play as an Elite sent to aid the Truth and Reconciliation, and you are to make your way up to the Plateu, killing Flood and Humans as you go. Gameplay is great, and lots of H2 style stuff as well. All the Flood killing makes the level a little boring though, making it comparable to Quarantine Zone in Halo 2.

4. Biohalo
http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=1575
One of the first Halo CE SP maps, but I'm overly impressed with it. Great cinematics and gameplay.

Master Chief is trapped in a Flood infested building and must escape! Level features awesome cinematics and gameplay. A little short and might be too easy for experienced players, which might prefer to play this on higher difficulties.

Runners-up (didn't make it into top 4 but deserve a mention):
Retribution 1.1
http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=2130
Takes you on a unique and original tour of the Multiplayer maps, with a different and engaging objective to complete in each one and different situations.

Infestation
http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=2722
One of the only levels where you play helping the Flood! Very long and interesting.

Post your own reviews here!

1. Colosseum II

This is about the only single player level made with an awesome story, besides Bungie. It also has voice acting, while not the best, very few even have that. The cutscenes are very, very good. There are custom weapons, and they aren't boxes. And there are custom bipeds. They are for bosses, which also adds a nice feature. It's drawback is that it's very hard, and really does need cheats to be beaten. The other is that it has a very ugly BSP.

2. Biohalo

The other has nice looking cutscenes, but this one has REALLY nice ones. The BSP, again, is not top-notch. The gameplay is nice, though. It also is too short.

3. The Rush

This one is close to the opposite of the others. It has a really nice and good BSP. The cutscenes are not very good, and it is far to short and its hard. But besides that, it is a good single player level. If only there was the next map (this one is supposed to be the first in a series)...

I have to agree with you on the GHP Dangercanyon 4 Map. It is absoloutely superb and I especially love the little things that make it all worth while. Having Halo 2 styled Grunts, a powered up Plasma Rifle, Halo 2/3 music in places.

Covenant Canyon which is in the same vein, while being quite 'shabby' in comparison is still excellent and also has Brutes, Ranger Elites (CMT) and a bunch of other cool additions. One section where you drive over a hill in a Warthog and there are literally dozens of Flood running at you accompanied by music is just epic.

I personally liked the SP map 'Contact'. Apart from the ugly exterior BSP on the outside Warthogs run, it is quite fun. It's claustrophobic for most of the level and then you get to the final large hall and it plays the song 'Follow' by Incubus which fits perfectly as you fight.

A rare sight, indeed.

If there's any SP level that's good, it would have to be Contact. The fact that it uses all Halo 1 content makes it great, because there's no odd feel to a weapon switch from H2 to H3, and it's enormous and always has action around each corner. I didn't like GHP DC4 to be honest, even if I like custom weapons. I think what makes Contact good is the use of The Odyssey, from the Halo 2 Soundtrack. No, it doesn't use Follow (song played when you chase the Heretic leader in a banshee) it uses the more relaxing movements in it, all throughout, unless you die, then the music goes away. Just go play it :|

Iv'e always like Cleanup and GHP DC4. Those are pretty fun even though at the end of cleanup it takes forever to kill everything...D: Still, loads of fun.

Coluseum II
This map is easy, some people mad say its impossible without cheats. That's because the best way to take down the Boss battle is to get behind It and melee it.

GHP_DG4
WOOT! Great map! *Im bad at reviews*

Cleanup
Not much of a story, but a great map where you play as the covenant

DMT-Air
SP only because of the scripts. Still great

Contact
Invincible elite, he fell through a wall becuase I rammed him with my warthog.

Mission BC
Looks like a first time SP map. Not bad, but could be better.

It was. I threw it together quickly to test scripts.

My most favorite SP map has got to be GHP Dangercanyon 4, because it was the first I played, and you could see how the first few GHP Dangercanyons have inproved.

After that is retribution, which inspired me to begin testing of multiple BSP maps.

In my opinion, they all are good, and are all an alternative to the original campaign, which although is created and scripted better than most of the single player maps, loses its brilliance after the five hundredth time around.

adumass is making Cleanup v2, it's going to be amazing. I don't think he'd like it if I said anything about it, but I know it'll be a great addition to Halo CE Single Player maps.

I never liked SP_dangercanyon. That is probably that it did not really have a storyline, or atleast a good one. To me, that and cutscenes are some of the most important parts of an SP level.

DMT Air
Good for 2-5 runs, you can recompile it to an MP map for play against friends on a LAN.
An easy way to get the Gold Medal is to not crash into anything, and try to stay on course and go as straight in a path as you can. And try not to miss any checkpoints

Great reviews guys, keep it up!

I forgot to put DMT Air in my first post, but it is a truly fun and unique map.

1. GHP-Dangercanyon-4

An AMAZING MAP made by GameGodLazy. He reskinning the classic weapons into h3 style really made me feel like holding some halo 3 weapons in the game. Once I bumped-possessed an elite with a sword, and I had loads of fun swiping the Flood. The only gameplay bug I noticed is the Jackals. They're overpowered.

I'm downloading Collesium II now.

Flood Containment - Way way to many elites for the map. They needed to replace some of the elites with grunts. I've counted nearly 6 elites within the first few steps of the map. Half the bugs in the map can be easily fixed in a few seconds. 2/10 (for effort)

Covenant's canyon public beta 1 and GHP_dangercanyon 4 are my two favorites.

Agreed. I just downloaded Covenant's canyon, and it was better than I thought it would be. The final will be great.
