Well, i have ripped the half life 2 Combine gunship, and i'm making it into a vehicle for halo, using the pelican's physics. So i was wondering, as i got the gunship's normal map, if you could put it on (to make it look the best it can). Can this be done on halo ce's engine, or am i wasting my time? oh btw, pics of (scenery) dropship ingame. (try not to mention the map itself, my graphix card sux).

if you can rip the model, put it in, then copy the textures, and put them in, with brand new functionality, addition of nodes and markers, new physics, collision models, and the like, then its possible. But thats breaking, im sure, at least two copyrights on Valve Software's Behalf. In other words, im sure that ripping it is illegal. If you rebuilt the model and accurately redid the bitmaps then its fine. But the pelican, to my experience, never worked quite right. it never even flew where it was supposed to... so don't use it if you ask me.

Even then. The Combine gunship was a Bio-Mechanical type organism, meaning it has the absence of a cockpit. Furthermore, that gunship had manuverability over ever part of itself, right down to where its gun pointed, and could move in any number of directions. This is rather difficult to do, with the limited vehicle controls of halo. But whatever you want to do, mate.

You semi-know what you're talking about. He's not asking about physics, he's asking about bump maps and if they can be added to vehicles in Halo. No, they can not, unfortunately. Nothing but BSP can have bumps.

oh, bump maps? you mean the things that add textures, but are applyed like a texture? like a 3D image/texture? oh.

No, that won't work. though the part about copyright infringement still stands.

You can use Valve's models in Halo. As long as you aren't selling what you put them in, it's fine.

Yeah, and i wasnt claiming it to be my own, and i will give Valve every credit except for the conversion, and besides,it doesnt matter that it doesnt have a cockpit, it would still be fun, and you could always try to use as an ai. And btw, what would be the nearest physics, because i thought about the pelicans physics, and they fail, so i think i need some that can strafe.
