So I accidently overwrote a file I was working on, with a blank version of it. The thing is, I saved the file I needed just seconds before I overwrote it. Is there any place in windows where it might have saved a temporary version of said file? Or any way to recover it?

if it was a .max file, theres a backup .max of that file, want me to get the folder location? Of course that is if it was a .max file
EDIT: System Restore could....possibly help you, but I doubt ur file is a few days old? Have u disabled system restore? what is the restore scheduled at, if you did not disable it? Edited by Dhark on Jul 5, 2008 at 01:43 AM

Yeah, The files on the comp somewhere. Its probably in a system folder somewhere. I'm not entirely sure which folder though. Do you have a separate drive for backups on your comp? If so its probably on that drive. Edited by Disaster on Jul 5, 2008 at 11:56 AM

System Restore can help you, unfortunately, you need to hope it created a restore point on that day.

If you overwrote it within a program like 3DSMax then the old data may be gone forever. Edited by Dennis on Jul 6, 2008 at 12:49 PM
