As most of you know, SWMT, or Star Wars Mapping Team, is a team that puts together Star Wars-themed maps for Halo Custom Edition. I started the team out of my love for Star Wars and my disgrace at the quality of the Star Wars tags out there, no offense to the creators. To be honest, the only tags I've ever seen as remotely good were the Lightsabers from Saber arena (http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=355), and those could be improved upon, with better shaders, and a better BSP as well.
So I decided, "Well, if I think I could do a better job, I should prove it!", and, during my days at UMT, I started the SWMT with Ganon, who quit the team shortly afterwards.
Since then, I started and restarted time and time again, winding up with these models:

Those were all created by myself.
I have "borrowed" people here and there to help me with a problem, but I never actually had a full-fledged team. I called it the SWMT to give it some... Official-ness, and I always had plans for getting a team together, but I never got around to making the thread until now.
I DO have plenty of people who are beta testing, so that's not an issue.

What I am looking for is someone who can either model environments, model bipeds, texture, or rig. I can handle modeling vehicles and weapons, as well as scripting and any work in Sapien/Guerrilla. Please post pictures, videos, or downloads of your previous work should you choose to apply.
Also, Xfire/MSN would be nice as well.

Thank you,
The Star Wars Mapping Team.

Maybe you should start off small, rather than try to form a map team to make a conversion. Seeing as only two haven't failed, and they were in dev for like, 2 years, It may be best to think smaller.

I'm going to try to give it a shot. If it fails, and I'm on my own again, oh well. I can learn to do all the things I'm looking for myself; I just don't have the time right now to be watching hours worth of tutorials. I have a girlfriend to look after, and a mountain of summer homework to tackle. I can lead a team, since I'm still online almost 24/7, and I can still find some time to model, but I can't learn anything new at the moment.

If I had a team I could manage, I could get started quicker, meaning I could see results faster and have more time to tell them what needs fixing and have them fix it to make it as good as it possibly can be.
I have the time to manage a team; I spend most of my time online in IMs with my girlfriend anyway, I just work on my homework/model while chatting with her. I DO have the time to lead a team, I DON'T have the time right now to learn something new.

I don't really want to join but, you can use my darth vader biped if you want: http://files.filefront.com/darthvaderrar/;10671454;/fileinfo.html
I believe he used that in the old thread, but didn't know who it belonged to or where he got it.

Its how the world should be!

no u.

I like Star Wars, but there doesn't seem to be enough stuff to bring a lot of recruits, especially with people like Masters persuading them reasons not to yet. I say you should make the Blaster and some bipeds, then ask for a team. That will receive a much better feedback.

forget that retard.

O, i think those modles are a little too "good" for Hce. Try soemthing more advanced like UT3.

They got ingame just fine.
Tell the Hi-Res Halo team that their models are "too good". These models push the limit, but still go ingame with no lag. I only have 512 MB of RAM, so if there would be any lag, I would be on the receiving end of it.

I do like the AT-AT model. Have fun animating it and putting it in game though.

Star Wars is my favorite movie. I'm glad there's gonna be some star wars stuff in Halo. Are there gonna be any space battles? Like in SWBF2?

Good to be back. Hoth has been getting back underway, I learned some new cliff techniques while I was gone, so I'm going to redo the cliffs soon.

Some new things have been coming along, yes. While I was gone, I learned a bit more scripting by working with the default Halo SP maps a bit.

The models have no major issues with lagging. The poly counts DO push the limit, but, if you can run Battlefield 2142, you should have no problems. I'm cutting back on the polygon/trit count as much as I can, I wasted a LOT of polies in every model save the lightsaber.

Galactic Civil War is the first on the agenda.

Why werent you at your sisters funeral

Anyway, as has been said by me before. Your lightsaber is nothing but an insetted and extruded cylinder which does not even come close to resembling one. Go get real references, and dont post it again until it looks more like a lightsaber, and less like a flesh light.

First off, my sis DID die, and I WAS at the funeral. Popular opinion has it that she didn't die, and I lied to go along with it at Modacity recently in the hopes that I could attempt to redeem myself, but, of course, Polar decided to ban me again anyway, though I was promised a second chance.
Seriously, Sel, calm down and stop flamebaiting.

As for references, tell me what a lightsaber would look like. Each one is hand-made and individual; that saber in particular is based off of a number of lightsabers wielded by different characters. I used Obi-Wan's (http://www.the-blueprints.com/index.php?blueprints/starwars/official/5109/view/light_sabre/)
for the base image I used to model off of, and I added touches from a number of different sources, including a replica of Luke's ROTJ lightsaber on the wall above my computer desk to make it individual and not an actual character's lightsaber.

How's the lightsaber blade going to look like? How would you make it glow? Are you also making all the ships like dropships, TIE fighters, interceptors, etc.?

lightsabers.....have a safety? lol (referring to the blueprint jay linked)

Well theres alot of ways to make the saber glow, the 2 i can think of immeadiately is changing the multi texture on the saber (i think)

The other method is by giving the saber a mgs2 (light volume) prolly wont look quite as good thou

Lightsaber blade should look as close as I can get it to the Episode III blades. Yes, I know, the prequels were crappy, but they did have good special effects.

I have considered the possibility of space levels, and, in general, no matter HOW cool they may be, it just won't work. The closest to space levels you would get would be a trench run-style map, where the Rebels spawn on Yavin 4, the Imperials spawn on the Death Star, and the Rebels could fly up to the Death Star and attempt to hit the exhaust port and cause a massive .damage_effect/explosion that would kill everyone around and inside the Death Star. Think of it like a grenade, but on a larger scale. You hit the grenade with a bullet, it detonates, in H1, at least. Now imagine you hitting something about a meter wide, and then flying out of range in the 15 seconds you have as an explosion rips through everything, not destroying it (Destructible environments don't work in Halo), but killing everything.
Meanwhile, the Imperials can navigate a maze of corridors to find the Death Star's fire control, and then can use that ONCE every 10 minutes to achieve a similar explosion on the Rebel's base.

But for the levels where it would be appropriate, you WILL spawn in an insertion dropship (Animated scenery with attached vehicles which you spawn in), which lands and everyone gets out before it takes off again. The levels where I can think of implementing this off the top of my head are the Imperials on Endor and Hoth, and maybe the Rebels on Coruscant.

I'd go into more detail, but I'm in a rush right now.

i dont think that level is quite...appropiate or even entirely possible; plus if u want a planet level + death star that would have to really be 2 bsps right? Plus something like this would probably be on the scale of hugeass / coldsnap; i dont really quite see this as a balanced and functional map but I suppose if u wanna try go ahead

That was just an example concept. I may not even ever use the idea, I was just jotting down my thoughts, basically.
