Quote: So what is SPV3? Is it another mod of Halo 1’s campaign that you’ll have to wait years to play? Nope! A significant portion of SPV3 will be comprised of polished and completed versions of what we were working on with SPV2, and refining our tagset to accommodate that goal will be our first priority, but the real goal is to create a series of custom-built campaign maps based on events throughout the Halo franchise, and we hope to start on this in the not-too-distant future! Lolz at the nope for waiting several years to play

Quote: --- Original message by: Echo77Quote: --- Original message by: Choclate Thunda Well for the sake of argument. It is silenced because a suppressor just helps with the muzzle flash. The point of our silencer is to be quieter so technically it is a silenced since it was made and used for stealth and not a lot of noise. Plus like bungie said in h3 odst they could of gone with actual silenced version of the sounds, but it sounded to weak and just dull. Don't get me wrong you are right about the whole suppressor/silencer ordeal but in this case it is silenced. Edited by Choclate Thunda on Mar 7, 2014 at 05:22 PM A flash suppressor reduces muzzle flash. A suppressor dampens sound. "Silencer" is a common misnomer for a sound suppressor. Weapons fitted with what is often referred to as a silencer aren't actually silent (they're often portrayed this way in movies, though), the sound is just reduced. I feel like it looks like I'm just crapping realism all over the place, but "suppressor" is just the correct term for what you're using on the stealth-oriented SMG. Edited by Echo77 on Mar 7, 2014 at 05:45 PM dang it echo you beat me to this every time. nah but seriously calling a gun "silenced" is close to bordering on ignorance (especially since you've had it thoroughly explained that bullets do in fact make noise, i know shocking right... and nothing science does can change that.) i've dropped asking about tagset changing, but if u can PLEASE not get the name wrong, that'd be awesome. (though i'll say subsonic is a more accurate name for the effect you're trying to achieve, if anyone on CMT wants clarification PM me and i can bore you with detailed explenations and reference material) also just to clarify, i'm doing this because i care about CMT and love the work they're doing, and feel i should help them to make it as fun and enjoyable (and realistic) as possible.

Realism, science, and gameplay have nothing to do with what I was trying to say, I only mentioned it to clear up a common misconception about the device's actual name. I didn't expect it to get this out of hand, though. Edited by Echo77 on Mar 7, 2014 at 06:14 PM The thing is that it has more than one name: Suppressor, Sound Suppressor, or Silencer. Its the same. So by this we are both right and these common misconceptions don't matter. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suppressor

Why does it matter what cmt calls a little attachment for a gun? We are talking about a game here, and the name shouldn't irritate anyone that much regardless of what they decide to call it. And if it does irritate someone, then it's their problem for being so easily annoyed by silly little name.
Everyone's concerns have been made clear, so I'd say at this point we should just wait and see what cmt decides to call it when the mod finally drops.

Most of that image looks eww. Sorry if i was too blunt. -_-
Edit:
Also, I was replaying T&R a while ago, and I noticed a small bush thingy was mostly inside a scenery boulder and only a little bit of it was sticking out. Just pointing it out. It wouldn't do much to change performance or anything but... Yeah. It's in the boulder in front and in the middle of the path that leads you to the gravity lift. Also the large rock to the right of it looks too flat and out of place when you notice how it actually looks. Edited by P3 on Mar 8, 2014 at 02:13 PM

Edited by Delicon20 on Mar 8, 2014 at 01:56 PM Personally I think it looks pretty disgusting. It's grey, has way too many illogical scratches over EVERYTHING (look at the door too), etc. Just looks wayyyyy to worn for a ship like that. You'd imagine the interior being much cleaner, even for it being an industrial ship... I could see some scratches here and there, but definitively not at this level. The PR looks pretty rad though.

But it was grey and scratchy in the vanilla game though. (or at the very least just grey)
Plus isn't the Autumn a pretty old ship? like 50 years of old? Edited by Delicon20 on Mar 8, 2014 at 06:50 PM

Ships old but was being refitted at Reach? The origional seems more logical: Theres a small amount of wear but nothing overly distracting. If it was a burned area that would be a different story though.

Quote: --- Original message by: Delicon20 Plus isn't the Autumn a pretty old ship? like 50 years of old? It launched in 2510, so it's about 42 years old by the events of Halo: Combat Evolved. It saw action in 2531, was decommisioned with the rest of the Halcyon line, and reactivated in 2550. It received a refit in 2552 with the intention of getting the Spartans to the Covenant homeworld to capture a Prophet, but was heavily damaged over Reach. It then made a slipspace jump that put the vessel near Installation 04. [/wiki] So it's an older vessel that was decommisioned for some time, but it also received refits fairly recently (relative to the events of Combat Evolved), but it's also sporting a lot of battle scars from Reach, from the sounds of things. It seems like the level of wear-and-tear in the CMT screenshot could make sense if it's in a section of ship that recently experienced damage and/or the neglect that might come from years spent out of commission. The refit might have been more mission-focused than concerned with fixing up the interior with a new coat of paint. I guess it just depends on the atmosphere they want to convey. I'm assuming the unnecessary amount of scratches\etc is due to them wanting to make the ship more detailed without redoing the BSP. I suggested to have POA's bsp's redone and T&R's BSP's redone, both were declined. Though the doors have updated models now, that's an old picture.

We don't really want to waste our resources on remodeling entire levels to look pretty, we learned our lesson with A50 and the piss poor performance we got out of the exterior.
In our world, the POA is not only old, but the UNSC often uses the wrecks of other ships to do repairs on newer ones, as the functionality of the ships this late in the war is more important than the aesthetics. The hallways in the refitted POA come from various sources, such as other destroyed UNSC ships as well as the POA's own damaged hallways from carting around all sorts of metal contains and computer banks and stuff. Honestly how do you think they move stuff around the ship? Stuff gets scraped up when you try to put new doors in and the like.

If we didn't do what we think is best and let the community dictate what we do, then you wouldn't get the quality of projects we are known for.
Everything is a WIP, and it's in our process that we worry about gameplay and features first, visuals last. The POA textures and the PR were never planned to stay the same way as they do in that photo when it was posted.
