Quote: --- Original message by: TM_updatesQuote: --- Original message by: Masters1337 Not really... with a shotgun you can use cover, you can attack at range, rarely do you end up in melee range with a shotgun, unless you have stunned an enemy with it and are out of ammo so want to go in for the quick melee kill. Our melee's have always been 1 hit kills on flood that don't have energy shields, and we have the spiker and BS for anyone who does want an extra powerful melee.
@lodex, the Elite is our most powerful enemy, and are infinitely more fun to fight with guns than instant lunge weapons. Ah yes the great gameplay master himself enlightens me. Lone warrior is alot more experienced with gameplay than you are. I value his opnion over yours anyday and you should too. It's good that you guys will be getting pepzee on your team in the near future, since it is once again clear that you people need a person who knows what nice gameplay is all about. Now having that rant about your inexperience out of the way, this is a more detailed analysis of the Shotgun in halo 1. The shotgun was mostly featured in levels with flood. This meant of course that it was mostly to be used in situations where the flood are rushing you and getting into close range. Essentially when you shoot them in the face, you could have room for a fast powerful melee based weapon. If you people have made all your weapons insta-kill flood with a melee, then that is just unexciting and too easy. It would be much better if the flood stayed true to their spunge like reputation, requiring at least several blows from normal weapons to beat it down. Then you include the energy sword, and you get that awesome ninja-like experience when surrounded by flood. Slicing and dicing them into oblivion. THAT is cool. I recommend you listen to the advice given by people who know what they are talking about. But in the end you do what you want, and its your map's quality that will bear the consequences. Did ya like that rant there, hmm? Let off some steeeeeaaam? Honestly, I find that your constant insulting of other members to put me off this site. You're like Sciophobiaranger, really; convinced of your total superiority over the other talented members. SPV3 (and its predecessors) are popular mods, almost as popular as Lumoria. They can do it however they want. With that aside, an energy sword is not a good weapon to put in. It will not feel the same as swords from the later games, and simply staying in one spot while you hack away is not my idea of an enjoyable experience.

Quote: --- Original message by: TM_updates Bet you feel like a man now Legion, good for you :-) He has a good point. Yes, you yourself and TM are a fair bit better at setting up gameplay experiences than CMT, but you should note that CMT has existed longer than TM and 'experience' is a stupid term to bring in. Also, I see no evidence that Lone is more experienced than Masterz at all. Masterz is a fairly experienced mapper/modder and is no amateur. You are slightly better due to the new features that your team has come up with for Lumoria. However, Masterz is just as experienced or more experienced and can come up with just as high quality gameplay as you or anyone else, and especially Lone, who as I pointed out, has shown no evidence that he is more experienced than Masterz.

experience doesn't have nearly as much to do with gameplay design as personal opinions do.
Gameplay is always only as good as the player's interests. Meaning that if he/she likes high paced close ranged combat, then they'd choose to enjoy a game that reflects that sort of gameplay.
My point is that just because you think someone is better with gameplay than someone else, doesn't mean we all do, so there's really no point in arguing about it.

TM, if you're going to call people out, why not use a PM as you suggested instead of posting in the thread? you're being hypocritical by clogging the thread with your offensive outbursts. ;-|
personally, I think the flood should be hardened against melee attacks due to their lack of care towards pain, and their general relentlessness. going up to melee a flood combat form promotes getting within their own melee range, which on higher difficulties would kill or mortally wound the player. unless your weapon has a point that rends flesh apart, a blunt melee attack should be as effective as punching a pillow. I said it because you are convinced of your superiority, and you needed to be told that. I don't get why the flood should be limited to 1 melee atttack each. True, a Spartan is strong enough to flip a tank in this game. Hmmm. But it doesn't really seem like a good gameplay choice, I think. Spamming a melee key is not fun, as also in the energy sword case. But, its your mod. It'll still be fun, all the same.

do the 2 playable bipeds have the same animations? just a simple yes or no would suffice.

You seem to think that noone else possesses the same qualities you do when in reality, you're blinded to the fact that they are your equals or your betters. You repeatedly and constantly make the same mistake I've made in the past and which I've seen many others make. You might not think that you think you're better than everybody else, but you appear to believe everybody else is at least worse than you.

Quote: --- Original message by: TM_updates Hey man, thanks again for informing me of my wrong ways :-) you realize that when 90 percent of a modding community which you've been posting in for years are all saying the same thing then you should realize that we may actually know what we're talking about. you should know none of your posts are improving your case at all. You didn't when the last argument with me by puffing out your chest and you're not gonna win this one, against various community members, by doing it either. you are NOT superior to us, you do NOT have the right to call any of us kids, and you're rarely more enlightened than any of us when you try to start an argument. I honestly wish you'd just leave the ce community already because you're relentless, aggressive, annoying, and you've trolled the forum to hell on multiple occasions which is why you're account name is currently TM_Updates rather than L0d3x or L0d3man. Why you think that, despite all your constant denial and belittling when questioned, this forum has a hierarchy chain and you're somehow at or near the top is beyond me. And for the record, I rarely defend Jaz because he's definitely not my favorite community member, so the fact that I am should inform you that you have thoroughly pissed me off with all your crap on halomaps over the years ALSO this is not me trying to "be an internet badass" these are my actual thoughts on you, not as a person, but as a POSTER, a poster who I know very well, not meaning that I know you as a person very well, which I obviously don't. that's a little disclaimer because I've learned that I have to be crystal clear when dealing with you because if I'm not extremely thorough with my posts you try to find one little inconsistancy and throw it in my face. know that what you try to post or pm to me won't help your case with you or the community, which I know you don't respect anyway because you've spat on it and Dennis enough for me to see that you simply don't give a crap about it, or actually find it humorous that an internet forum and it's members try hard to resemble a society. So in conclusion, and contrary to what you may believe, you're not well respected, you're not on the top of the community's food chain, and it'd probably be a good idea for you to either shape up or ship out, though I personally would prefer you just ship out, no offense to you as a person whom I don't know and may actually be a good man, but much offense intended for your alter ego as a poster whom I generally despise. EDIT: btw, I'm not here to start a war, so as usual I won't respond to any of your responses or pms lodex, and I plan to let the thread go on undisturbed which I hope you will do as well. Personally, when I was posting about the shotgun vs energy sword thing, I didn't consider it an argument. More like a heated debate, or difference of opinion. Although I agree when new stuff does get posted, it does usually provoke some sort of a response. That's how it works though. Some will like it, some won't. Anyway - to stay on-topic, I have a question for Masterz. Will we be seeing a return of the needler ghost? I liked that thing (Although it was slightly OP if I remember).

It's pretty obvious to anyone that has a good understanding of level design and gameplay in Halo should know that the Energy sword and shotgun are both great weapons to use against the flood. If its used spariangly and accordingly, than its a fantastic melee weapon to use and adds alot of variety instead of just a regular gun. Not to mention, alot of the guns thus far in Halo are what I personally call "repeats", where as they have a different visual style but are not very different from another gun. The Energy sword in that case is very varied and the only other thing similar to it would be the brute hammer.
The shotgun is also an essential for close quarters combat, especially against the flood. The flood in halo 1 and halo 2 were both pretty hard, even compared to the covenant. You always fight them in small to medium sized levels due to their behavior, exception being maps like Flood Zone in Halo 2 and Two Betrayals from Halo 1. It is an effective weapon along with the energy sword, I'm not sure how others can disagree about that.
Lastly, I'm going to agree with Lodex on this one that LoneWarrior is far more experienced in the gameplay department than that of Masterz. If only the public could see what Lone and Koo have been working on, they would surely agree. Now that is not to be said if Masterz or the rest of the CMT Team was to suddenly improve their aspects of level design and gameplay, I would reassert my opinion on the matter.
