Thanks everyone for your advice on characters that are beveled on the stock. Yeah I hate it too. I think I might try floating geometry and engrave it like Dumb AI suggested.

wow, it's a ripped bsp or a remake ? i wanna try to model a highground varient maybe for a campaign or something fun. im not sure to be able to do a really nice bsp like that but i will try.

Like waffles said, its much better to bake down from a high poly. Even though its alot more work, you will enjoy the results ALOT more. Putting in the extra couple hours of hard work to get all the correct maps you need from a high poly is really worth it, especially when creating textures and assets for newer games. However for Halo, I always used the nvidia normal map filter for PS. It works well and did what I needed it to do.

Skydome's with a simple texture slapped on is ugly. You need to add some kind of movement of the clouds, at least with a alpha mask and transition bitmap or something. As much as they are easy to create, they really are static and boring when made like that.

probably because with newer dlc they can have a whole team dedicated to only a few multiplayer maps, without worrying about assets such as weapons, vehicles, models, etc. Whereas in Halo 4's initial development they were simultaneously working on all of the above for not just multiplayer, but the campaign and spartan Ops as well.

No point in doing half the stuff I am if I skimp out on something that I can actually do (albeit annoying). The less people took shortcuts, the more people would learn how to do things

you haven't looked enough. he released the best looking odst ports that i have ever seen, not to mention he is one of the most helpful members on this site. just sit your @$$ down shut the #$@% up and be patient for this stuff, learn to do this yourself and you will realize how much work it can be sometimes and maybe you'll have a better appreciation for the time people take out of their lives to make this stuff for your enjoyment. every god damned new member here acts like a spoiled child which makes us the people doing work not want to give it to you.

on the other hand great job on the odst's so far waffles i look forward to the release.
